[Mobile] Screen always on Option

When the Spotify app is in focus keep the screen on and prevent it from locking. Just like in PowerAmp, this should be an optional setting.

It's really annoying to have to unlock the phone to skip tracks, or see the name of the current song or artist, especially when driving.

Hey folks!

Thanks for coming to the Idea Exchange.

With the release of Car View, your screen will always remain on when driving - or when turning it on manually in the settings.

When you connect your phone to your car’s Bluetooth, car view automatically turns on. You see larger, driver-friendly icons in the Now Playing view, and you can quickly change what plays with Choose Music at the bottom of the screen.

For more info about listening to Spotify in the car, check out this article

Thanks!

Hi,

Can someone at Spotify tell me if this is ever going to be looked at? There have been more updates again and this hasn't been corrected.

Thanks

regisboliver

My car has no bluetooth interface, I listen my spotify songs with a car radio resource that plays my songs just connecting on my phone by USB.

How can I keep my screen on as before uting this method? This solution is for people that pays more than $25k in a "smartcar" (Im from Brazil, here is most expensive), but I pay my Spotify subscription montly like him, why just him win new features and we lost a important one?

Please rethink about that, a lot of people like me, lost that featre that give us easy way to skip songs and change playlists when driving (iphone turns on not disturb when driving and we have additional step to unlock the phone), you can create an option like "keep screen on when playing and charging", or "wake lock when  playin...", I can help translating the caption to portuguese too (free, lol), but bring our feature back.

Another streaming players do this, but Spotify not anymore, frustrating my spotify app experience.

Hi regisboliver,

my car doesn't have bluetooth system too but I am using one of these beauties:

https://smile.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07L9VZH2Z/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

With this, it's easy to use Bluetooth in my car and also, I can use Spotify in car mode without no problem, so I have ths screen on all the time. It's not the perfect solution but it's a solution. It worked pretty good for me!

I hope this helps you. Cheers!

Cannot believe they actually turned this off by "accident"  and now won't bring it back on. This is ridiculous !

Hi,

There has been another Spotify update but no resolution to this issue!!

mkygod

I don't is not a matter of IF can they do it or IF they have the time to do it. It's just that they won't.   Having the screen always on is just a simple flag that you can set for any Android app as long as it has permission. Any amateur app maker can program this in without much effort. It would take them about as much time as me typing out this message.

This is not “implemented” so I don’t get why it says it is. The screen still locks so having Car View is absolutely pointless & doesn’t solve the issue.

Mine finally seems to be working as it should now.  Stays on for the hour I drive each way without having to keep touching it.

As long as I was charging my iPhone, my screen never locked when Spotify was open... until the last update I (regrettably) did a few months ago.

Now, it doesn’t matter if I’m in the car or at home, Spotify won’t stay open. There are so many reasons why I appreciated that feature.

An example is; when I am doing dishes and my hands are wet, I could just slightly brush my hand across the screen to change a song. Now I have to dry my hands and unlock my phone. I don’t have time for that. Ain’t nobody got time for that!

And! If my friends or family want to control my Spotify now I have to either give them my unlock code or bring my finger over to give them access.

It used to be so easy!

Seems such a silly thing to complain about but it also seems like such a silly thing to have taken away. Although, I am sure there is a reason... right, Spotify?

And yes, I know I can turn off auto lock. That’s sometimes what I do now. And that comes with its own set of issues.

I would like to hear from the devs whats the reason why they did not implement this, because I can't think of any other thing but lazyness. It's propably like 1 line of code.
