Please create an app for the Apple watch that allows users to change songs and playlists from their watch. Perfect for working out and the busy commute.

Hey everyone,

 

Thanks for coming to the Community, and adding your vote to this idea.

 

We're pleased to confirm that you can now DJ from your wrist with Spotify on Apple Watch.

> Play, pause, and skip, both music and podcasts.
> Control the volume.
> Get info about what’s playing.
> Play from Recently Played.
> Save your favorites.
> Use Spotify Connect to play to another device.

 

To get Spotify on Apple Watch you’ll need an iPhone 5 or above, running iOS 10.0 and above, and an Apple Watch on watchOS 4.0 and above.

This is a must for Spotify. Right now there is no wearable that can run a popular running app (Nike, Runkeeper etc), without a phone, that also monitors your heartbeat, maps and measures your run, and runs Spotify (online and offline mode) 

 

The Galaxy Gear S has the Nike app - but no spotify. I would be happy if Spotify develped an app for either - with a preference for the Apple Watch as it is smaller. 

 

Please do this Spotify. You will liberate millions of runners from their phones !

The watch has no networking capabilities. It must be tethered to an iPhone to use anything like GPS for maps or LTE for data.

The watch might not have networking capabilities, but it does tether to the iPhone meaning you could possibly change the song playing in Spotify on your iPhone from your watch. We'll have to see once Apple opens it up to developers to take a deep look.

As far as I know, the smartwatch doesn't store any apps. All apps are stored on the iPhone and a seperate part is streamed to the Apple Watch (like the Chromecast does).
