Picture on Profile

I would like to suugest the option of adding our own pictures or avitars WITHOUT linking it to our Facebook accounts.

I know there are some of us that were fortunate enough to get Spotify before it linked with Facebook and I would love to add my picture on the account page.

Updated: 2016-10-20

We’re excited to finally share that you can now upload your own profile picture on Desktop. Uploading via iOS and Android to follow. The feature is slowly rolling out so if you don’t have it yet check back soon. Thanks for the feedback. Enjoy!

Another strong vote from an early and loyal paid subcriber. Allow pictures without facebook. C'mon guys, this is simple, your customers are asking for it (have been for a year), and its not harmful. Let's do this.

Not right now because it's not a priority? Hire me for an hour and I'll have it implimented for you. It's not that difficult to do. Fact is, this should have been done in the very beginning. I refuse to sign up for facebook just so I can have an avatar (

Facebook is just as doomed as Friendster, SecondLife, MySpace, Hyves, Google Orkut, - Wave, and +.

Not Right Now?? Geez Spotify. Changing a personal pic is a BASIC FUNCTION on thousands of websites. Being able to change ones picture or avatar is about basic as one can get. Why is implementing this so difficult? Why the resistance? Requiring a FB acct is just ridiculous....

They are joking us.

I think they do not have server space for pictures. Spotify, I can purchase one server for you, just implement this.

Not right now? I really don't get that. Just implement it.

  1. Here is what I don't get: you see a number of topics springing up all over the forums regarding the profile picture, you actually encourage people to post in the "proper thread" (closing threads here and there), you even say you love the idea and yet you maintain that this is a "not right now" feature.
  2. You could argue that "not right now" is equal to "nice to have". And everybody ever involved in any project knows what happens to "nice to have" features when compared to "must have" items...
  3. We also know what happens to "quick wins" the moment they are identified. What happens to them? They are almost always implemented the minute they are spotted. Why? So the project management has something to be proud of.
  4. I would say that this profile picture request is a quick win (especially with people offering to implement it for you, or even renting profile picture hosting servers). So I would advise you to just implement the request already, and I strongly think that you'll be reaping positive feedback for weeks from all of us here.
  5. Why? Because Spotify is a great idea in the first place, and people love it! And looking from the arguments, they would love it even more if they weren't forced to use some social platform in order to show their profile picture...

So, Spotify, if another site pops up with easier user interface/better functionality before you fix the problems for users without a FB account, you know your business model is toast, right?  We want to like you, we want to give you our hard-earned money.  We want to let you mine the data we provide by connecting with others and making playlists.  We want to be you complacent, sedated, consumers.  So please, help us help you get rich and use us by just making it easy to update profile pics, connect with friends etc without using facebook.

Thank you for making what is potentially a really amazing webservice.

Jeez - finally shifted to Premium and decided create some kind of proper profile and what's this? Facebook account? Facebook? You chaps must be realising by now that a Facebook account is rapidly becoming the apogee of naffosity... you are the friends you keep!
