[Playlists] Limit Editing Access in Collaborative Playlists

This problem has already been addressed in other ideas quite a few times, so I'll make it brief. At the moment, anyone can edit a collaborative playlist. There are numerous ways to solve this, e.g. granting the creator the right to put people on blacklists or whitelists. Another easy fix that might be a separate link for the creator to share only with persons who shoud be able to add and delete song! It would already help a lot 🙂

Hey everyone!

We're happy to announce that you will soon have new options for managing collaborative playlists - they are rolling out to everyone over the coming weeks.

Users will have the ability to review who currently has access to individual playlists, share collaborative playlists with large public groups, or keep them small and private for that special tightly-knit group of friends.

You will be able to:
  • Pick your favorites. As a playlist creator, you can now invite or remove users from collaborating on your playlists, meaning there’s more control over who has access to editing the content you love.
  • Share privately. You can now set your collaborative playlists to private, so no one can view, search, listen to or share a playlist– except for those chosen few who have been invited or given collaborative access.
  • Change your mind? At any given time, a playlist owner has the power to see, add and remove who gets to collaborate and follow their playlists.
For details on how the feature works, see:

Because of this change, this other idea is also being implemented.

If you don't see this yet, don't worry. Just make sure to keep your app up to date and it should be available for you soon.

Same thing is happening to me. A bot every week shows up to my playlist and adds random songs. Extremely frustrating. Please give an update on when you plan on fixing this, Spotify.

Hello, I'm running out of nerves. ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️  Again and again a some random bots added (maybe even deleted) some of our songs. This is a really big problem and I would like to know the current state of the problem. I think I speak for everyone that WE CAN'T WAIT MORE! ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️

Hidden persons are my friends & me and "Emma" and "🙂" are the fckin bots which are ruining our playlist!!! I block them all the time and remove songs but after a few days or week they come again with another account and another songs!!!

This is a real bummer that it was closed. Bots are taking advantage of collaborative playlists and putting in songs without permission from the playlist owner. I assume these bots are made to put songs into playlists to get plays on the songs they add. It at least feels like a scam. A new permissions update needs to happen.

Hey everyone,

We're happy to say that our teams are actively working on delivering changes to the way permissions and collaborators are managed for playlists.

We'll post here when we have an update - Stay tuned!

I’m also having the same issue with Bots. They keep adding to my 1 year olds bed time playlist! They’re adding songs that literally wake her up because they’re EDM. It’s a collab playlist so our whole family can add songs for our little girl.
Spotify, please fix this issue!!!

This needs to push through now. It's a real issue for a long time now, just search the community. The initiatives/ideas just get closed too soon. Spambots keep messing up school and friends playlists. Multiple actions are needed but start with access control on shared playlists. Access control is the most important one that makes us able to stop this, regardless if it is a bot or a regular bad user turned vandal.

Secondly, I can't believe Spotify has not banned these users yet. It must be really easy to spot that activity. The bots keep pushing this "pesukone" artist. There must be money involved, come on Spotify, get your act together and fix this!!

Also having issues with Pesukone's stupid music. It's just ridiculous that Spotify refuses to help with this issue.

I agree with all the frustration from the users. I can't believe that after 5 pages of comments from a real technical issue that was posted in May 2021 has still not been solved. I use spotify every single day for my personal and creative pursuits, many of which involve the use of collaborative playlists. It's a shame that the community has addressed a serious issue impacting the enjoyment and technical use of a basic spotify feature. And particularly affecting millions of Premium paying members. I hope this issue gets resolved quickly and not relegated to "Under Consideration" for several more months

Under Considaration??? What do you want to consider??

I would like to remind you that during your considaration, other (new) bots are ruining my playlist ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️

For gods sake, please fix this issue! Me and my boyfriend hold great sentimental value to our playlist and if we cant even listen to it together because some stupid bots keep adding their terrible pesukone music then what do we even have spotify premium for? We literally pay money for bots to ruin the experience. Please consider reopening the case, i promise you will do a lot of people a big favor. It would already do so much if youd have to verify yourself so you can add to another ones playlist/have to use a private link, etc
