[Playlists] Limit Editing Access in Collaborative Playlists

This problem has already been addressed in other ideas quite a few times, so I'll make it brief. At the moment, anyone can edit a collaborative playlist. There are numerous ways to solve this, e.g. granting the creator the right to put people on blacklists or whitelists. Another easy fix that might be a separate link for the creator to share only with persons who shoud be able to add and delete song! It would already help a lot 🙂

Hey everyone!

We're happy to announce that you will soon have new options for managing collaborative playlists - they are rolling out to everyone over the coming weeks.

Users will have the ability to review who currently has access to individual playlists, share collaborative playlists with large public groups, or keep them small and private for that special tightly-knit group of friends.

You will be able to:
  • Pick your favorites. As a playlist creator, you can now invite or remove users from collaborating on your playlists, meaning there’s more control over who has access to editing the content you love.
  • Share privately. You can now set your collaborative playlists to private, so no one can view, search, listen to or share a playlist– except for those chosen few who have been invited or given collaborative access.
  • Change your mind? At any given time, a playlist owner has the power to see, add and remove who gets to collaborate and follow their playlists.
For details on how the feature works, see:

Because of this change, this other idea is also being implemented.

If you don't see this yet, don't worry. Just make sure to keep your app up to date and it should be available for you soon.

Also having problems with bots all over my Playlists....

Please FIX this ASAP.

Andy_Bailes

It's exactly as everyone else has already stated.

Spotify team, are you doing anything to address this widespread issue???

It seems a bit ridiculous that so many users share the same complaint, and most with the same bot, and still no action is taken.

I've only had one collaborative playlist receive the bot treatment, but it seems clear that everyone has Pesukone's songs added. I think implemeting invite only/permissions who can edit collaborative playlists is required. I would imagine using bots to artificially increase your play count is against some ToS for artists and should result in Pesukone getting banned from the platform.

I've also had playlists spammed by the same bot, songs by Pesukone and Empty Elevator. Really annoying, makes me wonder about people doing this, but then removing songs from my collaborative playlists... Backing them up now.

I originally joined this thread because I wanted to be able to preview and add songs in the edit list like the old days on a collaborative playlist and have added security of only who I wanted. Now, I'm disappointed to announce that my playlists have been infected by three different people/bots that have all put in the same music, music that I don't want. I have had to login to my old account to remove the songs, and it has taken me oven an hour to remove these songs.

Yes!! I have this same problem. I spent over an hour deleting songs. It's insane there is no way to limit who can add to collaborative playlists and it's even more disappointing that this problem has persistently been going on for months!!

Hi all,

I noticed Spotify shared an update on this post, advising they're looking into it. Hopefully enough people complained and they decided that it is actually an issue and they need to fix it!!

https://community.spotify.com/t5/Closed-Ideas/Community-Playlists-Making-Collaborative-playlists-INV...

It's annoying however that Spotify make out as though this is a feature we'd like to see, rather than an issue that needs to be sorted ASAP. Searching on the forum there have definitely been a lot of people complaining about the bots, especially the Pesukone one.

Fingers crossed it's fixed ASAP.

Cheers 🙂

Yes! This is much needed… last week I had two classmates intentionally deleted all 11h of songs from a collaborative playlist that I had with my friends 😞 we spent 3h on a zoom rebuilding it just to have the same thing happen the next day. I’ve had to remove collaborative ability now 😞

Status: under consideration?

**bleep** this has been an issue for months if not years and I'm baffled because an option to allow only selected users to collaborate SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE IN THE FIRST PLACE (a default option, if I may add).

This is one of the worst experience I had with Spotify, I swear to god if the spam is not stopping soon I stop paying for premium.
