Remove Pop-Up Suggestions

I have all notifications turned off on my iPhone through Spotify settings, but I've been noticing increasing pop-ups telling me to check out these random new features or playlists or artists that I couldn't care less about if I tried.  HOW do I get rid of this? Pop ups once a day was irritating, but now they are occurring 3-5 times a day and I have HAD IT. HAD ITTT.

Hey, you all!
Just jumping in here to say that you can now choose not to get the pop-up recommendations anymore. It's straightforward to deactivate the feature, by just following these steps:

Step 1: When the pop-up recommendation appears on your screen, tap on the What's this button.

Step 2: On the next screen, you just need to choose between don't get new recommendations from that specific artist or completely stopping to get the pop-ups definitely.

Once you choose to stop getting the pop-up updates, there is no way to revert this action, so think carefully before doing this, ok? 🙂

Last, but not least, thanks for suggesting this one, and don't hesitate to give us a shout if you need help with anything...

Regards,

Luan

Yep it’s all a conspiracy folks Spotify hates you and wants you to suffer. No chance for user error, obviously

Buddy. I'm so sorry you like to simp for corporations, but ... do they use dark design techniques sometimes? Yes. It's a thing. Believe me. I've opted out of everything I can possibly opt out of. It's not possible to opt out. Is it the end of the world? No. Of course not. I'm listening to spotify right now. I have to click out of popups here and there and it's annoying. That's all. We're all going to be ok.

Lol, if you ignore the banner it gives you a white space instead of just going away.

this feature being implemented was an outright lie. Spotify, please answer for your lie.

Almost exactly one year ago we successfully petitioned to have the ability to remove the exceptionally annoying Popups that were occuring with increasing frequency for users paying for an ad free experience. While an option to turn them off in settings was refused, it was agreed that we would be given the option to no longer see Popups through a more complex method of clicking "what's this" to be presented with options.

It would appear the developers, or advertising team, or someone has decided to go back on their word, as they are back, with no "what's this" to click, or any option to opt out again (see attached).

Once again, we are paying customers who are paying very specifically so we can listen to the specific songs that we want to without ads, interruptions or suggestions. If we wanted interruptions, advertisements and suggestions, we could cancel and use the free version, yet Spotify continues to do their best to **bleep** of paying customers by implementing newer and annoying features, while failing to implement requested features like true shuffle play (not random, shuffle), instead modifying shuffle to force new, unwanted music into our playlists.

Please re-remove the new Popups, or re-implement the option for us to turn them off.

Literally will not continue to pay for Spotify ever again if they continue this behavior.

Where's the toggle for this in Settings? I'm not sure I'm gonna remember the unintuitive way using "What's this" when it happens again. I don't remember enabling this feature, and it's never recommended anything in genres or with artists I listen to. They all seem to be pop chart stuff that doesn't consider what I listen to. That means it's for the production companies, not us. We're past the terrestrial radio station days, I'm now paying a subscription to not have someone else's choice of music shoved at my face. If there was a settings toggle for this, that solves the warning of not being able to re-enable it later. The user experience logic here is silly and a bit offensive.

Other threads are going on in the Spotify community about popups.

Evidently we could turn this feature off, but Spotify have decided that the supposed revenue from ads (please please just call them ads - you have agreements in place with the record companies and ticketing agents for concerts so they're ads) that they rolled back anyway to stop the popups.

This is really really bad functionality and I'm seriously considering walking away from Spotify. I'm running SiriusXM right now and have not had a single popup on my app.

Just a quick update. The ads are still popping up and as always I do not care about Tpains concerts or anyone else’s. I fail to see where my subscription says “no advertisements (we’re liars)” but I guess that’s Spotify’s happy place.
