[Social] Block Followers

I believe there should be a way to block people that are following you on Spotify. When blocked, the user will automatically unfollow you and will not be able to find you, or view your public playlists.

Blocking should be possible via both username and email address.

It's completely ridiculous that it's not possible to block someone from following you. This is a person who I've completele cut out of my life and tried to keep out for the last years, and now I see that **bleep**er's name in the list, basically connecting me in some way to that person again. I've had my account for more than 10 years and been very happy. I'm considering stepping out only because of this fact.

Why is this not a feature yet? This needs to be addressed! I can't even think of another platform that doesn't have this ability. Spotify - PLEASE make this happen! It's been three years since this idea was posted and there has been NOTHING!

There is a way! You can contact Spotify and ask them to remove your followers and your connection to facebook. I've seen this done.

Exactly how did you contact them?

Go to their contact page: https://support.spotify.com/us/contact-spotify-support/

Go to Technical Issues > Other > "I Still Need Help"

Explain that you'd like your followers removed for privacy reasons. They will reply, asking you to verify your identity. This won't block followers, but it will remove them. Users will have to look for you again in order to follow you. Make sure to request that the Facebook link to your profile is deleted, too. Otherwise your facebook friends can easily find you.

Another option you have is to create a new account, and ask Spotify to move your playlists to your new account, which they will do. Hope this helps!

Thank you for this - but still, it is such a ridiculous amount of work to
solve such a simple problem. A simple "block" button is part of nearly
every social media and social music program and service out there. Why
can't spotify make that happen???

I think if enough people ask Spotify to do it manually, maybe they'll get tired of it, and create the feature! Try it 🙂

It's one person, not all of my actual other friends that I enjoy sharing my music likes with. Bloobird is right. Why can't we just block the people we don't want and keep it simple?
