[Social] Block Followers

I believe there should be a way to block people that are following you on Spotify. When blocked, the user will automatically unfollow you and will not be able to find you, or view your public playlists.

Blocking should be possible via both username and email address.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Ideas Exchange, and sharing your votes and comments.

We’re pleased to confirm that all users now have the option to block another user on Spotify. With this update, you can actively block another user across desktop and mobile devices, preventing them from being able to see listening activity, public playlists, or view profile pages.

Here’s how it works:

  • When visiting another user’s profile, click on the   (...) button.
  • Select “Block” (or “Block User” on mobile) to block the user whose profile you are viewing.
  • This user will now be blocked and cannot access your page, public playlists or view your listening activity.
  • To unblock a user, click the Unblock option in the same menu.

We're always working hard to provide the best possible Spotify experience in a safe environment.

Please see here for more information.

The fact that you have not fixed it and it's 2018 is ridiculous. You need to fix this. This is a service we pay for and we don't want to be bothered by people we no longer want in our lives.

Not having this feature shows a blatent disregard for users who get stalked and harassed on social media. Protect your members!

I see a very serious failure in Spotify for not offering the option to add / delete and block contacts. We know that nowadays the internet is one of the main means by which malicious people commit crimes, and Spotify is still a means where this can happen, since it is a social network. I see that this suggestion has been around for quite some time, and nothing has been done to correct this issue.

Implement this feature or I am switching to Apple Music!!!

Venax

I also do not know why they have not implemented this yet. 😕

This function is needed so badly! Can’t believe it doesn’t exist yet.

gross, so victims can't use your service without their abusers ruining music for them? This is incredibly daft of you not to have a block feature, I may reconsider using your service after all.

No update from them in nearly a year??? They already know that users are asking for this as a way to keep stalkers, harassers, and abusive exes from connecting with them - and they literally do not care enough to figure it out? Is it really that complicated to figure out how to add the option to block users or make things private??? Every other service has figured it out. What's taking Spotify so long??

I can't believe that Spotify still hasn't implemented this feature after 5 years of people asking!

I had someone who I have put a lot of time, money, and energy into avoiding find me on Spotify. I am no longer comfortable sharing my photo or participating in any of the more "social" aspects of Spotify. I'm sure I'm not the only person with this type of situation.

It seems very counter-intuitive that Spotify would rather have users keep themselves in Private Mode constantly rather than be able to make changes to their Followers and be active participants in the community.

Agreed. They clearly don’t care about privacy after 5 years. Likely something violent will have to happen resulting in bad publicity and lawsuits before any correction of the problem
