[Social] Real Time "Listen with Friend(s)"

There ought to be a feature where I can click on a friend and listen in real time to whatever they're listening to, not just their playlist. If they change songs, my Spotify changes with them.

With this feature, a person could remotely DJ if they wanted, or you could just know that you and a friend are hearing the same thing at the same time.

Updated on 2020-08-04

Hi everyone!

We're happy to announce that this feature has now been implemented.

You now have the option to join a remote Group Session with all your friends and enjoy the same tracks simultaneously no matter how many miles apart you might be.

This is a combination of several different threads all related to synchronized listening. They periodically combine them and whatever thread title they choose becomes the feature that the title may or may not have described accurately.
It's sort of like when you ask a question in a forum, then just as people start to answer someone else asks a different question, then the whole thread is hijacked and there's really nothing you can do.

Also, some people have commented that this can't be done without copyright complications, but I don't see how this is any different than Song Radio. After a song plays, other songs play after it. If that feed is generated by AI, or another user's feed, how is that different? Treat it like a playlist.

Rebellem good idea making the title and description clear, but starting a new thread is kind a huge setback in my opinion, regardless i voted for it! Perhaps we should change this one's title and description if we can, there is a TON of duplicates of this one but for some reason this is the most upvoted.

MurderousMarvin if this is an issue they should take actions against it so good ideas won't get lost. Also what do you mean by copyright complications? If the song is not available for that user just don't play it and display a message that this song is not available in your country or something. But if you mean that this would violate personal privacy rights as of knowing what that person is listening to I don't see how that could be the case bc what you listening to is public information, already displayed on the friends section and you can also switch to a private session and ppl won't see what are you listening to, but i guess you did not mean this by copyright complications.

Anyways, this is really a killer feature in my opinion and could make Spotify far more popular.. AAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH the pain :DDD

This is a total different idea from what the most of us want. It seems Spotify's moderators are not really aware of the thread meaning.

Rebellem your thread got marked as duplicate of this one so they seem to have some idea what this one is about 😄

Spotify developed Group Session. A very stupid feature. You are supposed to connect the session host device to speakers and let everyone around you mess up with the music selection. And they launch this in the middle of the global quarantine. Bizarre!

This is Spotify's answer to the global demand for synchronized sessions between people physically apart

How many times this will be consider a new idea and for how long Spotify will keep synchronization features from us? This disdain is very annoying.

Now since we're all supposed to follow social isolation, it would feel really nice to listen to the same song my friend/s is/are listening to. It would help bridge the gap and make it fun. Instead of needing to share a song link everytime we hear something new, we could just add them and our current song and playing queue will sync together. It shouldn't be a premium only feature though. Please consider this!

This appears to be possible through Facebook, from what I’ve seen from other commentors, but it’s also possible through Discord! Check out these links for more info:

@qwer1yy,
The Discord option is the closest I found since the other parties have it installed and configured. But it's far from synchronized. In my experience, it plays with a ~20-second delay.
We want sing-along-sync precision.

Any news from the Spotify team?
