Spotify Xbox One app

I'm aware that a large majority of Spotify users won't be gamers but with Microsoft's latest console, the Xbox One, do you think it'd be possible to get a Spotify app? Now that it's possible to multi-task and stream while you game the opportunity to gain new monthly subscribers is massive.

It's already possible as seen with Microsofts new service "Xbox Music" which features heavily in the new console. I know I'd definitely use the app if there was one. Anyone else?

This is very unlikely due to the existance of groove music, and while it exists MS has nothing to gain by allowing spotify to inhabit the platform

If  one day groove music dies then maybe but rn no chance dude, sorry

The reason that there is no spotify app on XBOX is that Sony paid them not to put one there.  XBOX has lots of apps that compete with Microsoft services, like Amazon for one.

@Kruzz3y are you kidding us? There's already a SoundCloud client for Xbox One and MS had no trouble allowing that. It's Sonny's fault we don't have Spotify App too.

I would love for Spotify app to be on my Xbox one! My Xbox is all I use and I can't play spotify through my tv because the app isn't available on Xbox one. It's frustrating

@Kruzz3y@That's not what I hear. You might as well say the same thing about Pandora
and iheart app which does exist on Xbox.

@jason8957 where did you hear that Sony paid them not to. Please provide the link of proof of it.

Ms told me over the phone they've been trying to work with Spotify to get on Xbox but yet still no word in public from Spotify themselves for clarification.

Popular music streaming service Spotify has just launched its first-ever games console app - and it's exclusive to Sony's PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4 for the time being.

"PlayStation have gaming exclusivity," Murray Pannell, UK marketing director for Sony Computer Entertainment Europe, confirmed to Eurogamer at a preview of the app last week. And how long does the exclusivity period last? "That's to be decided exactly," he confessed, "but certainly for the foreseeable."

At a time when media-streaming services such as Netflix are typically found on every connected console, the exclusivity deal is a minor coup for Sony.

Don’t forget Sony owns Sony Music Entertainment, not just Sony Electronics.  Sony Music has a HUGE music catalog, perhaps even the largest, meaning that getting the rights to license the catalog is a big deal for any streaming service.  It could be that Sony Electronics didn’t even have to pay Spotify for an exclusive deal because Sony Music Entertainment could underhandedly forced it upon Spotify.  I’m not saying that during the licensing and in the contract with Sony Music Entertainment is the exclusivity deal, but it could be.  This is, of course, extremely anti-competitive and in a sane world would have anti-trust prosecution all over it, but sadly that isn’t the world we live in today.

This is actually one of the main reasons I bought an Xbox and stopped buying anything Sony back in the early 2000s.  I do not believe that the actions that the various Sony media companies (Sony Music Entertainment, Columbia Pictures, Screen Gems, TriStar Pictures, Sony Pictures Animation, and Sony Pictures Classics) and their electronics company (Sony Corporation) make to influence the music, television, and movie industries or the electronics industry are honest or ethical.  In fact, they are down right abusive.  They use their power in the media industry to unduly influence the electronics markets.  They’ve tried to push DRM, they killed HD-DVD, and now they are restricting content on competing platforms.

Great time to grab more Spotify users/subscribers from the Australia/New Zealand Xbox One market. Pandora was the go to app on Xbox One but is closing down for Australia and New Zealand from July 31st 2017.
