Way to prevent duplicates in playlists.

I have big playlists, and would like a built in way to prevent duplicates from occuring in my playlists.  This could be an option to prevent, or select/hide duplicates.

Update 2015-03-17

Hello everyone. Spotify here. With the latest release of the Desktop app, this feature is now available across Desktop, iOS and Android. Thanks for the feedback. Enjoy!

I can't see this being hard to implement. It is a much needed feature, although its not urgent. A simple ctrl+f on any playlist is fine for me until this is added to the spotify client.

I love making playlists but sometimes it's hard to remember what song I have already put in them. Especially when I got really big ones. I think it would be really nice if I got a notification every time I try to add a song that is already on my playlist so I have the ability to just add music without having two of every song in my playlist.

Perhaps maybe just a setting in the preferences that wont allow me to add several of the same song in a playlist.

Yes, please.

I think it would also be extremely helpful when browsing music to show which songs you are browsing have already been added to one of your playlists, because it is very easy to lose track. This ensures that you dont have multiple copies of the same song on a particular playlist. For example, it could be shown on the track name that you have the song on a playlist, and by right clicking you can see to which playlist the song has already been added

Why do I have duplicates in the first place.  When I'm not on my personal computer they still show up.  When I find the same song in 2 diff playlists, I delete one yet I still have 2 in my library.  Can you delete off the library list? If so, let me know b/c I haven't figured it out yet.  It drove me crazy when my iTunes had duplicates and it's driving me crazy all over again, especially since I can't seem to get rid of them.  And FYI I have been to the deduplicate webiste where you copy and paste your library and it didn't work.

Thanks

When is this going to be addressed? I'd imagine it's an extremely simple fix.

It would be awesome if I didn't have to go through playlists or Starred and delete duplicates of songs that I add on accident. It would be really helpful if there was a setting to make Spotify delete or prompt you with options if you add a song that is already in the playlist or has a very similar song in the playlist. Like, were I to add a compilation that includes the copy(s) of a song a little prompt would pop up to let me know, so I could organize/delete accordingly!

Please think about adding a feature like this!

I 100% agree! I found myself wishing for this feature the other day. I love creating playlists, and that's one of the main things I do on Spotify. Adding a prompt when you wish to add  a duplicate song to a playlist would be extremely helpful (and simple to implement, I feel...).

Perhapes spotify could do it couple of different ways.

1. They could have a pop up window when you drag and drop saying you already have this song in your library,  and asking if you would like to add it agen.

or

2.  put a little marke kinda like they did fro if you inport you itunes into spotify the put a little music not.  exept maybe use a different imape.
