Way to prevent duplicates in playlists.

I have big playlists, and would like a built in way to prevent duplicates from occuring in my playlists.  This could be an option to prevent, or select/hide duplicates.

One solution would be to add a 'remove duplicates' option to the playlist right-click menu. I know I certainly wouldn't want to be hit with a pop-up stating the item is already in playlist every time I add a song to a playlist. Some other suggestions, such as 'auto-remove duplicates' wouldn't be good for someone who purposely loads their playlist with multiples of the same song in order to increase the chances of hearing it while in 'shuffle mode'. That could be an option in the preferences menu though.

I'd love to know how the ideas and suggestions process works within Spotify. Judging by the popularity of this idea, and the lack of an implementation, it's a complete failure. Nevertheless, it would be interesting to see how bad it actually is.

Can I ask what's going on? The implementation of this feature is so simple!

I definitely agree with this one! I'm forever adding duplicates and it takes me ages to trawl through deleting them.  Is this feature likely to be added anytime soon do you think please? (Please!) Thanks.

This annoys me on a daily basis.

It's now possible on Android.

Not tried it on webPlayer or iPad.

But it's pretty useless. When I add song with same tags from another album, it add it without problems - duplicate! Now it's looking for song ID, not metadata, so it's useless. Spotify, try harder!

Starting to think you can't do this Spotify. Drives me CRAZY on collab playlists.

As hpguru posted above, you'll now get a pop-up box when adding a duplicate song to a playlist on Android (v1.1.1).

Try the update out, and let us know what you think.

This feature has now been added to the iPhone app in version 1.4

It's pretty ridiculous this has not been added to the normal computer version yet.

Look like such an easy thing to fix, and it's already taking you 2 years.
