Way to prevent duplicates in playlists.

I have big playlists, and would like a built in way to prevent duplicates from occuring in my playlists.  This could be an option to prevent, or select/hide duplicates.

Update 2015-03-17

Hello everyone. Spotify here. With the latest release of the Desktop app, this feature is now available across Desktop, iOS and Android. Thanks for the feedback. Enjoy!

Hi,

This feature is nice, but it shall be spread also over all playlists.

It means to avoid duplicates in all existing playlists.

Seweryn.

That's a minor help. Why not extend this function across all playlists?  I have a lot of playlists, and a lot of music. I would like to have every playlist to be unique, and without repetition.  Can the same after interface be utilized, adding an identifier when a song is already in use in another playlist?

Is that possible to have it in the website player?

In my case, I listen to music from it, and sometimes I send music to a playlist that was already there... contrary to the desktop player, the website player does not warm you about repeating the song within the playlist!!

What happened to this feature? I just had a big issue with dulpicates as I'm making a very large playlist right now that started as a copy of another one of my old playlists.

 Hi there,

I am using Spotify for years now.

Since a few days I discovered that "double" tracks will be imported.

With other words: when I import for example Drive from Joe Bonamassa to my personal playlist,

it will be imported without a warning.

So the track is double (duplicated).

Strange, because till a few days ago, I automatically received a warning that a track was already

in my playlist.

What has been changed?

Dear Spotify. Do you people even use the app? If you did, you would realize how stupid some of your blatant ommissions are. Sure, you added a feature that tells users if a song has already been added to a playlist, but this isn't good enough because many artists have the same song on multiple albums (ex: greatest hits, live album, spotify session, various b-sides, etc). There should be a pop up that automatically tells a user that a particular song has already been added. For example, just have it list any songs of the same title that are already in a playlist, even if it's a live version, etc. That way we can decide if we want to have both the live and studio version of a song.

Also, the current method of having to actually attempt to add a song before it tells you that there is a duplicate is stupid. It should automatically have a check box for any playlists that the song is already in. The current method is such a waste of time, especially when I can't remember which of my many playlists the song is already in. I have to try adding it to a playlist just to find out the song is already in there. How many hundreds of complaints till you guys f#cking listen to your customers. There are so many obvious ommissions with your apps, and such inconsistency between app and desktop. Get with it guys.

p.s. And why no option for a user to simply save all tracks in a format so we can copy and paste into a text document. This seems like an obvious need for those of us who want to keep a list of our favorite music, just in case certain artists decide to remove themselves from Spotify. Or some way to notify a user if/when an artist or song does get removed from Spotify.

For the past couple of weeks, I've been using the web based player and this feature is not working.
