Way to prevent duplicates in playlists.

I have big playlists, and would like a built in way to prevent duplicates from occuring in my playlists.  This could be an option to prevent, or select/hide duplicates.

also, why can't i delete out of my library. for instance i wanted to listen to the beatles a while back when i first subscribed. they aren't here so i decided to look for "covers that don't suck" so i searched spotify for say... Glass Onion... and i didn't want to listen to all one by one so i dragged them all into a playlist to listen to when i got a chance. 

Now Beatles covers are usually blasphemy from the get go, and there are 10 million **bleep**ty ones. but now i have all 10 million in my library and not budging. do you know waht its like to have karaoke as a huge pet peeve and then have it come up as one of your top artists. I have a library full of crap and too much stuff to star the good in any sensible way. Stoopid. I pay you money, Its my library, but i'm stuck iwth a useless pit of Beatles hack jobs. 

I pay you. let me decide whats in my library. otherwise the feature is just as efficient as searching every song in spotify, its quicker to do it that way and then it gets added to my library AGAIN. help!

This seems so obvious... it's frustrating constantly having to remove duplicates from playlists

Yup good idea, I want to be able to easily tell if a track is already in one of my playlists!

It would be nice to know when the "Under Consideration" label was added. Has this just recently been considered or is this really old?

I agree with this whole-heartedly, and I'd like to add an adjunct to this. if you look at a song, it should show you all the playlists of which it is a member. I find that the same songs, when I hear them inspire me to re-add them to my 'collection'.

It'd be really cool to know that this great song is already 'filed' in my 'collection'. thanks spotify, i love you.

Absolutely a MUST HAVE for Spotify. If you select a song that is already in the target playlist, it should not be duplicated, but ignored.

I tend to create "favorites" for an artist and it is frustrating to have multiple copies of the same song, same version, audience, etc.

iTunes has a way to detect duplicate songs while Spotify doesn't. This feature alone was enough to make me spend a year only using the free version of Spotify instead of paying for the premium versjon.

I don't think saying you can't have more than one is a good idea, I am more in favor of it notifying you that you have duplicates and letting you decide what to do with it. I don't know why you would want duplicates in a single playlist, but I don't think you should remove functionality.

Personally, Just have all playlist default to declining duplicates but allow them to have an option to "Allow Duplicates".
