Way to prevent duplicates in playlists.

I have big playlists, and would like a built in way to prevent duplicates from occuring in my playlists.  This could be an option to prevent, or select/hide duplicates.

It's simple, if they song is already in the playlist it doesn't get added. No message.

Why is Spotify missing these simple things?

Sometimes people might want to have the same track twice in the same play list.

Then a good idea might be this:

You right click the playlist, and in the popup menu there's a "remove duplicates" item. When clicking this it searches and removes all duplicates.

I haven't read all the million and one comments, so I don't know if this has been suggested, but if there was a way to auto or quickly alphabetize your playlists, that would make it a lot easier to delete duplicates>

The one thing I really miss when I use Spotify is the funtion that tells me when I add a duplicate to a playlist. iTunes has this why can't spotify have this?

This is a basic function that Spotify should have by default. Try expanding it to - e.g.: adding a track that "just happens" to be in of your other playlists. A notification box  pops up telling you that track already exists, and in which playlist, but still give you the option of adding it if you should choose to do so.

There are times you may want to include tracks from other playlists, but defiantly not duplicate any tracks in the list you are creating . Another idea is to give users the option if they select a particular track in a playlist, how many times it should be played perhaps randomly ? Throughout the playlist.

This is done as standard in itunes, its a piece of code that warns you when you put in the same file by mistake.

Frankly I was surprised it wasnt available as its just a bit of code, I expected it to have been noticed and sorted, but it never has so Im adding my support for this also.

I often check duplicates by sorting the song names in playlist, if theres any duplicated song, youll know immediately.  You can try this if needed 🙂
