[Your Music] Add LOCAL FILES to Your Music

First of, I'm a huge fan of the new layout.

But as the title says I'd like to add my own beloved local files to the "Your Music". I don't see why this shouldn't be a possibilty. This way I don't need to have one master playlist, I can just have all the music I like under "Your Music -> Songs".

Also, as suggested earlier, changing the font size could be usable to many people.

Hey folks,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange and voting to make this happen.

We're happy to announce that the option to add Local Files to your Liked Songs playlist is now available on both the mobile and desktop apps!

Once again, thanks for helping us make Spotify better, by participating here on the Community.

@KeithJoWalsh, good extension of this idea! This would also amount to a backup of your local music collection. It could be stored encrypted on the Spotify servers so there're no legal issues. And, if you're away from home with your mobile phone and want to play that Beatles album you didn't download at home, you can do that, out of your own encrypted Spotify cloud 🙂

It's incredibly stupid that this functionality has been deliberately excluded from the desktop application.  It's one of the few obnoxious features that prevents users from swithching to spotify as our only music player.  Why on earth spotify doesn't want me to listen to my AVEX tracks allong with my streaming music is beyond my comprehension, but eventually I'll get sick of this bull**bleep** and get rid of the spotify app alltogether.

this has been an issue I've been having for a long time now! Among other things... C'mon! let me add local files to "Your Music" And, seriously, get rid of that 10000 songs limit.... That's absurd!

Please do this. It simply doesn't make sense to give the ability to add local files and then ostracize them to a separate part of Your Music instead of being equals with the rest of the Spotify songs in Your Music. Like others have said, if this gets fully implemented, I will be able to finally move away from iTunes and pay for Spotify Premium.

Yeah really frustrating that I cant do this…

Status changed to: Not Right Now

Hey everyone! We're marking this as 'Not Right Now' but we still want your continued feedback and comments around this idea. We'll continue to pass on your feedback until we have another update for you.

It's the basic things like this that really piss me off about Spotify.  Guess what?  When Apple launches its new music service in a few months it will be integrated with iTunes.  That means that all of my music (the music I own and the music I stream) will be in one place.  Guess what that means?  It means that people are going to drop Spotify like a bad habit.  Oh yeah, Apple will charge less for this, too.  Google already makes this happen.  You just upload your content to their servers and EVERYTHING appears in one place.  What a concept!  It is mind boggling that Spotify expends so much energy on gimmicky features but continues to ignore the basic features that so many people are begging for.

"Not right now". Well, right now the two features I want the most are marked as not right now on Spotify: sync songs for offline playback on Android Wear, and adding local songs to My Music. But right now they're already available on Google Play Music! Guess what will happen? I'll switch to their service and leave Spotify behind. Right now!

Seriously, I had no idea Spotify was so slow to add features when I subscribed, and I'm starting to regret doing so. It took them years to add a library feature (My Music), when every single competitor out there had it from day one. Delaying some minor features is understandable, but they take way too long to develop (or blatantly ignore) major features.

Urgh, not right now, my backside. At least give us some way to manage local files. The local files tab is a mess. Why grey out album names when they're not available on spotify? I don't care if it isn't available! That's why I'm listening to the local files! Who thinks of these terrible ideas? Seriously. Stop it. Behave. No. Bad.
