armhf Spotify library for DIY projects

Me and many others have bought inexpensive ARM based hardware for media center use. Sadly most Linux distributions for these platforms are built with hardware floating point calculation only, and the Spotify library for ARM is software only.

Would you be kind enough to compile an armhf version of libspotify for us? Based on the number of orders on the Raspberry Pi platform alone I would expect the potential number of Premium service users of this library to be 100.000+.

Hello! Sorry for the delay on updating this but we’re pleased to announce the beta release of libspotify 12.1.103 for hardfloat armv6, allowing native support for platforms like the Raspberry Pi. You can find more info here: http://devnews.spotify.com/2013/01/22/libspotify-12-for-hardfloat-armv6-raspberry-pi-beta/ Thanks!

Would be awesome if you could recompile it for the raspberry pi!

+1 as another Raspberry pi user who would make use of this. Guess it's not a high priority in Spotify development team but it's the sort of thing that elevates Spotify above the competition (present and future). Please please make this happen.

Really looking forward to get this and add it to my Raspberry Meda Center 😄

+1 !!!

I'm trying to set up the Pi as a headless Transmission daemon, media server, NAS drive and Spotify client on Raspbian with a remote app. I have the first 3 working fine, but Spotify is the sticking point. I believe you can run Spotify on the Raspbmc distro (I've not tried it) but I don't want a front end/TV/keyboard set up etc. Just a Spotify daemon with a USB sound card connected to my amp with a remote app to control it... such as Spotimote... or even just a web interface! Worst case woudl be to use the GPIO pins to skip track etc, but a remote client/web interface would be spotty dog.

Is that too much to ask!?! 😛

Yes, make this happen please. Currently I'm streaming Spotify via Airplay to the Raspberry, but this would be much nicer.

An armhf library would quite likely make it on to the www.raspberrypi.org front page and convince some more of those soon 1 million Raspberry Pi owners to use Spotify.
