[iOS][Android][Podcasts] Adding indivdual Podcasts to Playlists

The option to save, bookmark or add an individual podcast show to a playlist would be nice to have. I'm actually somewhat surprised that this functionality isn't available.

Updated on 2019-09-06

Hey folks,

Thanks for adding your votes to this idea.

It's now possible to add Podcasts to playlists on iOS and Android. Just head to a podcast, click the three dots on the episode you want and select 'Add to Playlist'.

Thanks again!

I was very surprised when I discovered this was not already a feature, and Googled this expecting to learn how...rather than to push for it to happen!  I think it would be a really good feature.  I have been using SoundCloud to listen to and organize the podcasts I like, but I wanted to switch to Spotify because I prefer the music on Spotify.  However, being able to easily find the episodes I already liked is important to me, and I will need to stick with SoundCloud until this feature is added to Spotify.  Please add it!!

I have switched to using the Castbox app. It is superior for listening, organizing, and browsing podcasts. I have waited long enough for Spotify to respond to this and now other apps have moved into the space.

The lack of support or even response to this issue has left a sour taste in my mouth and am considering cancelling my Spotify premium account altogether.

This needs to happen asap Spotify.

It will be very useful and encourage more podcast streaming on Spotify!

My concern here is also that I hold Spotify stock.

Quite some time ago Spotify announced a strategy to get more heavily involved with podcasts. They even acquired Gimlet Media  — and the most recent news is that advertisers can target their podcast ads (to non-premium susbcribers) based on what podcast is being listened to.

Despite all of this, something as basic and simple as this request has been left unfulfilled for 3 years (!). And the only sign of life from Spotify is a "good idea" note posted almost a year ago.

This indicates an organisation where one hands doesn't speak to the other — and where the visions upstairs are not properly translated into product development downstairs. Or at least are done so at a painstakingly slow pace.

So while I supported Spotify's move into podcasts, and bought stocks because of it, the lack of developments on this humble thread is a signal that I should sell them again.

This should be something that isn't out of the realm of possibility now that you've launched the 'Daily Drive' playlist that has podcasts and music together.

I'd love to be a beta tester of this feature!

Waited over a year and absolutely nothing from Spotify for something that should be obvious. Likely going to cancel my premium family subscription. Absolutely ridiculous.

Hi,

This is an even more useful feature now that Garmin watches have a deadicted app. Using a playlist and the "update downloads" option on the Garmin watches is the best/most efficent way toupdate new music on the device. Not being able to add podcasts to playlists limits this feature on the Garmin app. Also it means that you have to manually change to each podcast episode while running!

I hope this feature comes soon!

Please make this possible, it's a pain in the **bleep** to select a podcast in a Tesla otherwise.

In the latest version of Spotify, there have been changes to podcasts that make it difficult to go back to a certain episode. Previously I could see episodes I had started listening to, and I could download an episode that I had specifically searched for. Now, I can only get the last shows I was listening to in "Recently Played" instead of the specific episode - and this can be superseded by music playlists, so I might even lose the show. I also find there is no download option from the search function - instead I have to go to the show then search for the specific episode. This is a huge nuisance as many podcasts I listen to have hundreds of episodes! Please help bring back some useful functionality here - playlists could be a good answer!

I'm a Spotify Premium subscriber, and have been for about 2 years. I currently use Overcast for podcasts instead of Spotify specifically because in Overcast I can create playlists, and in Spotify I cannot. I'm getting tired of checking every few months to see if Spotify has caught up with their competition on this front, only to be repeatedly and, it seems, inevitably disappointed.
