[All Platforms][Music] HiFi Quality - Lossless Streaming 16bit 44.1khz

I've just started a trial of Qobuz - they offer the standard 320kbps as well as lossless FLAC streaming (and high res downloads if you purchase them) the sound quality is noticeably better and on classical it's just wonderful to get all that resolution through your hi-fi or headphones! The catalogue has a way to go to get to Spotify's level, but they are getting there. The iPad app isn't' too bad (the desktop app is in need of an upgrade but I hear they are putting all their efforts into mobile apps right now).

So - lossless streaming - if Qobuz can do it then so can Spotify, they must have the same source - and obviously if you are asking £20 a month then those record labels and distributors take enough notice to make the high res tracks available for streaming. What this all means is soon, very soon, we will get lossless streaming and closely followed by high res downloads - but if Spotify aren't careful it will be Apple who get there first with an audiophile premium offering, and when they do it will be a much harder market place to make money in!

Hey folks,

We know that HiFi quality audio is important to you. We feel the same, and we’re excited to deliver a Spotify HiFi experience to Premium users in the future. But we don’t have timing details to share yet.

We will of course update you here when we can.

Take care.

The investment is described as an 'ethical' investment,  into a company which better serves humanity.  Apparently artists have spoken out.  Maybe that money chould have gone towards Spotify's prime objectives as a music streamer.  The investment undoubtedly came from Spotify subscriptions.

It makes no sense to me that there is absolutely no further news regarding their planning re hifi;  it just screams of arrogance and not caring about their customers.  All of their competitors now seem technically more advanced that Spotify;  those of us who want lossless music are being ignored.  They absolutely deserve lost costum if this is their attitude.

Status Update - Leaving Spotify Premium, Possible Return

Updated on 2021-12-31

Hey Spotify,

I'm sorry to say I left your paid service this month after your failing to deliver Hifi, and failing to be transparent about it.

I'm happy to say though, I'll be setting the idea of returning as a paying customer ''Under Consideration'' since implementing this may be in my future timeline. That's providing, of course, you deliver Hifi. No guarantees though. Like you, I am ambivalent and non-committal

Starting this year, Premium subscribers in all markets are turning to your competitors to upgrade their sound quality beyond Spotify HiFi to listen to their favorite songs the way artists intended.

Take a look at your newsroom article here for more info on how you missed your commitment.

Cheers!

I’ve got a three month window of tolerance now - feel like I’ve been lied to, conned and kept in a situation where I could have jumped ship 6 months ago but didn’t due to naive faith in big green customer service….

My Question or Issue

It's 2022. So HiFi has launched, at least if Spotify's own For The Record blog is to be believed. However, my quality is still maxing out at "very high".

Please clarify.

for hifi you should wait for an unknown date in the future

Hi, can you send me the link where this news is. I cant find anyting in this spotify Jungle about that........ I do not beleive there is such a thing at Spotify and dont beleive it´s coming either.... another question is, do they need it. What´s sure is that, for 10,99€ and with so much focus on anything else they have no room for mistakes anymore, meaning 1 cent more up in the price and I´m gone.

Missing a deadline is one thing, but not communicating this your user base speaks volumes about the company you are. I am a 10 year+ paying customer and I will now look into other options.

Edit: Me and my family have now quit our subscriptions. I like so much about Spotify, and will consider coming back when lower compression options are available and the playback GUI is more transparent.

Other services takes exclusive control over my DAC and displays bit depth and sample rate for all tracks.
