Spotify Integration with BMW Idrive 6 has always been sporadic and not all advertised features work. The latest Spotify versions 8.5.68.904 and 8.5.6.9.934 have bugs and the App does not appear in IDrive at all. The pervious version of Spotify was somewhat unreliable as I had to occasionally repair my phone with the car. I can no longer see the Spotify App in my BMW media list. 

I can only listen to spotify from the bmw bluetooth audio option. 

I've tried pairing an iPhone and the app appears on iDrive. For my android issue I deleted the App data and cache of both Bmw ConnectedDrive and Spotify app. I also unpaird the bluetooth connection between my smartphone car. Lastly, I uninstalled both Spotify and the BMW Apps. Nothing works.

Additionally, it would be great if my Playlist order in my car matched the order on the phone. For example, although my phone app is sorted alphabetically, my car would only show playlists in the order of what was most recently created.

Who else thinks Spotify needs to get it together and provide a quality app that integrates with iDrive?

I guess it depends on what iDrive version you are on. I have it back on iDrive 7 but have no idea if it is permanent or a glitch.

The iDrive standard rollout varies by region. iDirve 6 was standard on various models well beyond 2018. You can check the images below to tell which version you have.

the idrive system being “depreciated” by BMW is a total joke for a car which is 5 years old. Can you please be the better company and adjust your software so that it is back compatible as many of use this feature regularly!

Deprecating the feature and suggesting that users control the connection via Bluetooth/App on the phone is unsafe and also illegal whilst in control of a vehicle in the UK.

Having Idrive 6 on 2019-10 BMW, and not able to use with Spotify with Android phone, a joke to be honest.

Good thing that I have Ipad that I can use the spotify with.

Para que BMW ConnectedDrive funcione correctamente, le recomendamos que reinicie su iDrive y actualice los servicios BMW.
Para ello, proceda como sigue:
 
1. Encienda el motor de su vehículo y asegúrese de que el vehículo está parado.

2. Apague el motor.

3. Seleccione "Actualización remota de software" y confirme el proceso de actualización. Si quiere hacerlo más tarde, seleccione "Actualizar más tarde".

Thanks for the information. Below is the translation for anyone else that
may need it. Spotify has been working for me for the last few months but it
does shut down periodically and then in a day or two it is back. I have
noticed that if I park it in a parking garage for more than a day I lose it
until I get home. Not sure why that is but once I park in my regular place
from home my Spotify starts working again. The below information may be
helpful to others that still can't get it to work. Per most recent
dealings with Spotify support and the Spotify web site, BMWs that come with
Spotify app installed are still supported so for anyone that still can't get
it to work the below might help. I have not tried it. I am also thinking
that if you do the below you may need to reenable or re-setup apps that you
use (but that is just my guess).
