“Anti-algorithm” playlists?

Hi Spotify team,

As as a years long user of your service, I appreciate the precision of the algorithms to curate daily playlists that are aesthetically aligned to my musical searches.

However I find that sometimes my taste is too comfortable and boring and often leads me to echo chambers when I sometimes wish to be challenged.

I was wondering if you have considered implementing “anti-algorithm” playlists that are the exact opposite musical aesthetics of what one would naturally choose?

For example, if I (completely hypothetically) the am a sucker for sad midwestern slowcore music with washy guitars at approximately 70bpm, perhaps the playlist would consist of uptempo polyrhythms with staccato percussive instruments? I don’t know how it works but that sounds like a fun and challenging opposite to my natural disposition.

Maybe it would make folks feel like they have some inverse mirror back to themselves with a semblance of contrarian control… or perhaps I am just a lazy listener and you would recommend simply broadening my taste!

Working on it…

Thanks for your time,
b
