Artist Shuffle

When we want a shuffle of specific artists without needing to select all songs and add them to the playlist it would be great to be able to select multiple artists and shuffle all songs.

Currently you can go to an artist profile and hit play and it will play their music. You should add a feature where you can select multiple artists and it will shuffle ALL their music. This would be better than daily mixes that only have a couple songs from each artist.

PLEASE allow us to play (and shuffle) all the songs/albums of an artist on mobile and make a button to do this on the desktop app instead of having to use a workaround, which doesn't give us a true shuffle.

Currently, the only way I can shuffle and play all the songs of an artist is through the desktop app. And it's honestly an annoying workaround.

I have to:

1. View entire discography

2. View in list mode

3. Play a song from one album with shuffle enabled

This means there is not a true shuffle, because I have to scroll through the discography and choose a random song to start with OR I get a little burnt out by always playing the first song listed since there isn't a "play all" button that let's the computer decide what song to randomly begin with.

What is most frustrating is that this workaround is not available on mobile. I have to do yet another workaround and it doesn't even work every time.

I have to:

1. Go through the above steps

2. Open the Spotify app on my phone

3. Switch the device I'm listening from to my phone

4. Once I start listening on my phone vs the desktop app, sometimes an hour will go by and I randomly get switched to recommended songs. I really like smart shuffle, but I tried turning it off to see if this prevented the error. Instead, the app just stops playing the songs at some point, as if all of the songs/albums have been played. And they definitely have not.

I would definitely use this all the time! Please work on this!!

What Bridget 8 said. I want to strongly second this request.

Right now there is no simple, consistent way to shuffle an artist’s complete discography on Android mobile. The “Shuffle Play” button at the top of an artist page doesn’t actually shuffle the artist’s songs; it shuffles through a mix of curated or recommended tracks. The only way to stay inside the artist’s library is with clunky desktop-only workarounds, which defeats the point of mobile listening.

What’s missing is very straightforward:

A “Play All / Shuffle Artist” button on artist pages, available on both desktop and mobile.

Shuffle should pull only from the artist’s entire catalog (albums, singles, EPs, etc.) without injecting recommendations.

Playback should continue until all songs are played, not cut off or switch to unrelated material.

This is a basic, expected feature for people who want to dive into an artist’s work.

Right now, Spotify makes that harder than it should be. Please prioritize a native “Shuffle Artist” function across platforms that doesn't require workarounds.

This has been a basic feature of playing music since digital music was created.

unless what i'm thinking is something different. coming from a different service this was nice to not have to add individual songs & you could instead add either individual songs of an artist you liked incase you didn't like them all, or the artist as a whole if you liked all their music. So you could make a playlist of songs or artists or both, this way when artist "X" added new songs, or new music it would show up and have a chance to play those new songs without having to go manually add them.

Hey everyone, just made an app using Spotify API for this, since who knows how long Spotify will take to bring this update. You may use it from my GitHub profile (for some reason message body is not allowed to have links to GitHub so FIX the following link before you use it (add .com after github when you paste the link in your browser):

Thanks for this! You just solved a problem for my friend, a new user. He was already reluctant to try Spotify, and he was wanting to interact with it in a way that had never come up for me, so I had no solution to offer.

But, I found this page, which was the second in my feed when I looked for "spotify playlist of followed artists" and just a few comments down on the page with other people frustrated or commiserating about having this problem was an actual solution.

Thank you, thank you, I appreciate you creating this solution, and then sharing it with the world. Because it gives people a way to interact with and use Spotify in ways I hadn't thought of or needed yet myself.
