Bring back "Pin playlists to homescreen"

According to a discussion on https://community.spotify.com/t5/Your-Library/Move-playlists-to-Homescreen/td-p/5453989 it is "currently not available".

Albums are possible to be pinned to the homescreen, but the support to do the same with playlists is removed recently

Through this way I would like to request to add this functionality back to the android app

***update: I did get a playlist shortcut back on my Android homescreen finally. Try going into the app drawer, long press on the Spotify icon, the Playlist i wanted popped up in the context menu, another long press sent it to the homescreen.

***update 2: Wasn't sure at first how to control what playlists show up in the long press pop-up but so far it has worked by navigating to the Playlist and hitting the phone's homescreen button and going back through the long-press process above. Each time the most recently displayed playlist in the app was visible in the pop-up.

I'm a little late to this party. My last two phones had the shortcuts automatically transferred over by the phone backup service; so I had no idea this had been removed until my most recent phone transfer didn't bring them with it! Super bummed. I used those homescreen shortcuts literally every day.

Like @phrozenstare mentioned, my work vehicle is a Ford Transit van fleet vehicle. No android auto even though it's a 2019 so the shortcut was a huge lifesaver while driving. Not every new vehicle has fancy tech.

Please fix this

E_Durn

this feature needs to be returned.

Please return this feature, I found out it was removed after having my playlists removed from my home screen while troubleshooting an alexa issue. As someone with ADHD I heavily relied on this feature to access my favorite meditation, focus, and sleep playslists to avoid unnecessary distractions. Now, because the feature is gone (for no reason, which bothers me as a premium member because that losing features doesn't feel very premium) I can't restore the playlists back on my home screen. And the "pin to top option" isn't of much help since you're limited to like 4 items. Please bring this feature back. Maybe consult folks next time before you take something so important away.

So a true work around is to go download a 3rd party app called shortcut maker - the upside is using the websites option you can recreate your playlist shortcuts or add new ones to your homescreen. The downside is that these playlist links only launch in the app, they don't auto play them like the native feature did. So "happy" I now need to use a third party app to do something that was included in my service for years.

Yep, and have you found a third party shortcut app that recognises the name and cover art of the album / playlist? Because I haven't, it's a 'workaround' that turns a 2-click process in the app to more like 10 clicks and a text string in a 3rd party app.

Also, someone suggested it's because having shortcuts on your home screen stops you listening to new music - according to my Wrapped I listened to over 4,000 artists this year. This is exactly why I use 'Add to Home Screen' - to save new acts, albums and playlists I want to try out later

350+ votes, please return this necessary feature.

The feature doesn't stop you from listening to new artists (and spotify doesn't care about new and unknown artists anyway, they care about labels that pay them), I've listened to more than 7000 artists this past year so yeah. This decision is like what Elon Musk is doing to twitter. Like a baby playing with its toy.

I fully agree, it is something very useful and that makes it easier on the issue of agility and speed to select your playlist, not to mention that we often need to select the playlist as soon as possible without having time to open the app and then choose a playlist please return with that utility immediately!!!

Anything to get our own preferences on the Home Screen - right now it’s a worthless tab.

This feature drove the majority of my Spotify usage. I spend a lot of time and energy curating playlists so I can easily play them at the right time and place. This turns my 1 click into about 8 and I end up not even using Spotify please bring it back!!!

This is going to be forever appreciated if they can speed up the process, let’s go ☺️☺️🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
