[Car Thing][Developer] SDK for Spotify Car Thing

Hi Team,

Car thing is very nice piece of hardware, specially the controls. I am sad to see it going away. I want to ask the team to release an SDK for it, so the homebrew developers can keep it alive for longer. Please consider it before killing the device support.

Now that the sun is setting for the Car Thing, it'd be a great time to release an SDK to keep the quite capable hardware functional. It would definitely be a Green gesture 😁

I just want to voice how upset I am about the EOL of car thing. Why would I ever buy another hardware product from spotify. It is absolutely disgusting for spotify to brick a device I paid money for. At the very least you should open source it! If no open source then a full refund. This has broken all trust I had in spotify as a trust worthy brand.

No HiFi and dumping car thing after 2 years. I've been on Spotify for over a decade but honestly these things are culminating to me switching services. It's been nice

Well, they stopped doing hardware altogether, which is why they discontinued the Car Thing.

In reference to the latest e-mail laying out the discontinuation of Car Thing functionality, it would be greatly appreciated if you could provide a means of unlocking the device for usage with open source projects that could keep the device from becoming e-waste.
