[Connect] Crossfade on Spotify Connect

Please add Crossfade option while using Spotify Connect!!!

Why not have this option while using Connect???

Think of it, you use CONNECT when you want to send Spotify music to your sound system(i.e: CONNECT compatible Audio amplifier/receiver) when you're having a party. Wouldn't you want continuous playback in this kind of use??

I really do not understand why I would not be able to use this feature because I'm using the your streaming service with a compatible device which is partner with Spotify!!!

PLEASE MAKE THIS HAPPEN!!! PLEASE!

I am still in a 30 day trial. I may do that if I find too many bugs and sloppy customer care.

Just wanted to add that this does not work with the Pioneer WXC-50.. The only reason I went this route was to have SpotifyConnect because all the documentation out there indicated that whatever source (iphone or ipad) was used the Connect device would copy the settings. Guess that's not true.

Hey @nicoboucher73 thanks for bringing your idea to the Spotify Community. We don't have plans to support crossfade on Spotify Connect, but we've passed your feedback on to the teams that would need to work together for this feature. We'll keep an eye on this feature to see if it continues to grow from users. If we have any plans to build this we will let you all know here, thanks!

Why not???

So, there's a penalty for using Spotify Connect with partner devices???

As i thought, you don't really care!

This feature is a must.

Use case:

As customer I'd like to organize a private dance night for friends and created a playlist. I'd like to play it on a nice soundbar with subwoofer, using spotify connect. Without crossfade it doesn't work...

Denja

Seriously guys - how many times does this featureneed to be requested?!

Hello!

Same issue here. I just bought an Onkyo receiver and I became a premium user because the sound quality is way better than most youtube videos. Now when I throw a party, it disconncts between songs??? Im back to youtube, there is no reason to use spotify for party mode.

How hard should it be to tell your staff to enable the feature?

Just speculating, the way Spotify Connect works at a technical level makes this more challenging than it may seem. The heavy lifting for crossfading is juggled on the local device itself, and Connect merely streams to the selected speaker over a proprietary protocol. This protocol probably isn't able to handle multiple song streams simultaneusly, a requirement of crossfading.

Sometimes things seem like they are more minor than they are — this would probably require a significant amount of rearchitecting Connect as we know it today, and cooperation from the speaker vendors through firmware updates on their end, too.

Denja

I agree with you 100%, sammarcus.

I just think spotify is lacking in communication.  I'm well aware that that is probably the bottleneck, but just communicate it to your customers in stead of being entirely vague about it.  It's better to educate your users / customers and inform them it's probably not going to happen any time soon than just having them believe someone's actually working on it 😉

You can continue passing stuff onto your developer team, but if it's simply unfeasible due to constraints, that makes no sense, and ony frustrates your customers.

It's the stupidest thing ever crossfade should easily work with other devices I don't understand why it doesn't fix it
