[Connect] Multiple Speakers / Devices simultaneously

Now that connect is becoming available it would be nice to be able to connect to multiple outputs at the same time. For example I have 2 connect compatable speakers... it'd be great to have these in different parts of my house and be able to stream the same music to both.

I would suggest a maximum of 3 devices at the same time. This will allow for most scenarios to be catered for without streatching the bandwidth too much that it will degrade quality.

Hey everyone,

Thanks for coming to the Spotify Idea Exchange.

We've discussed this idea and while it is interesting, we aren't able to prioritize it and don't have any immediate plans to implement this. We will let you know if this changes in the future.

If we do have any new information to share, rest assured we'll check back in here with a new status.

More info on why your idea has been closed can be found here.

Hello, I am writing you an idea without knowing English, I hope it will be clear to you through a google translator. My idea is that you add playback on both or on all devices, since not all speakers can pair with each other, and so all devices could play music through spoofing. Example: My phone is connected to a speaker that does not pair with a friend's speaker, but we will have a spotify, and I can invite him to a group in a spotify, and then one of us can turn on music and play music on his device and on mine ...
If you already have this feature, then I'm sorry I could not check it, there are no friends haha :)

It should be possible to play spotify on different devices connected to the same wifi in the house, to be able to enjoy even more. Right now I have to reproduce only one and change depending on whether I am in one room or another. If I could activate at least three devices, I could hear the same list on the studio computer, the bedroom nesthub, and the living room google chrome.

Currently we have the ability to seamlessly change which device we are playing from or even choose a different device to play from without having to go to that device and start playing there. Wouldn't it be great if we could play from multiple devices at once. Instead of choosing one or the other, can't we choose two or more at once? Essentially similar to what UE Booms now allows where you can sync your speaker and play the same thing, creating surround sound without having to have a surround sound system.

Would be amazing if i could play on multple devices at the same time, from the device list.

could listin to the same music when ever im in one room or another! 😄 also a nice option to let the music heard by the whole family 😄

Hi,

I was also suggesting the same idea.

Myself and other family member's want to listen the same songs but in different rooms due to work but I can't do it right now.

**bleep** ridiculous that Spotify won't do this. Stop making excuses (oh, the code is too hard -- SERIOUSLY?) - we pay a small fortune for this service. Listen to the customers!

So what you're saying is that if someone wants to use Amazon smart speakers, then they better be single or use a different service because neither Amazon nor Spotify could be bothered to implement a feature that is essential for shared households to use.

Why is it that on Google devices any user on the network can cast to any of the devices, but with Echo devices you can cast only to those that you personally own. No shared household ownership allowed. And since Amazon only allows two adults in their admittedly very clunky Households concept, even if you opt for the unnecessary workarounds proposed elsewhere don't bother with anything above a Duo subscription because you can't use it anyway.

Spotify, step up your game because this is the kind of missing functionality that gets people to leave and never come back. Your selection is better than both Amazon Music and Google Music, but not enough to justify "we don't feel like adding this" as a response to something this critical.

This seems like a must have, at least to stay one up or at least compete, with other music-fy apps and sites

In 2022, is there still no one who has found another solution? an intermediary application, a device to buy? Thank you

Why ask for feedback and ideas if something that is clearly important to so many of your customers is being ignored?

And not just ignored, ignored for eight years?  The original post in this thread is from 2013.
