Customizable Public Profiles on Spotify

Hey Spotify community,

I've got an idea that could fill a noticeable gap on the platform: Customizable Public Profiles! Spotify, as amazing as it is for music streaming, currently lacks robust social features. But with customizable profiles, we have an opportunity to change that and elevate our music-sharing experience. Here's why I believe this feature could be a game-changer:

1. Show Off Your Music Personality: We all have unique tastes in music, and a customizable public profile would let you showcase that to the world. You could personalize your profile with background images, themes, and colors that resonate with your music vibe. Whether you're into hip-hop, rock, jazz, or anything else, your profile could represent your musical personality.

2. Widgets Galore:  Spotify could introduce customizable widgets that display your Spotify statistics. Want to flaunt your all-time favorite artists? Display a "Top Artists" widget. Proud of the hours you've spent jamming to your favorite tunes? Showcase a "Total Listening Time" widget. These widgets would add an extra layer of personality to your profile and spark conversations with friends.

3. Music Diary and Journey: Your public profile could also serve as a digital music diary. You could share anecdotes about your favorite songs, albums, and artists in a dedicated section. This personal touch would make your profile not just a list of songs but a storytelling space, connecting you with others who share your musical passions.

4. Artist and Genre Badges: Imagine having badges that represent your favorite artists or genres. When someone visits your profile, they can instantly see your musical allegiance. It could be a great conversation starter and a way to discover new music through connections.

6. Privacy Controls: Of course, privacy is crucial. Spotify could provide customization options that allow you to choose what aspects of your profile are public and which are private. You'd have full control over how much or how little you share.

Strengthening the Spotify Community: Customizable profiles wouldn't just be about individual expression; they'd also bring us closer as a community. By sharing our music journeys visually, we'd connect with others who appreciate the same artists, genres, or playlists. It's a fantastic way to discover new music and expand your musical horizons.

More customizable profiles would really make use of the friends features so much more, right now it just isn't it.

this would be so cool to have, i absolutely would love to be able to customize my profile like this. i’m. very expressive person and it would add to my expression of music. this would be a lot of fun.

Would love to see this as well. Profiles could pop a lot more if we can customize what we want the profile viewers to see. A stats widget would be great. Also, showing to the world our top artists of the month/year, or top songs of the month/year instead of having it be a private feature would be great.

I actually like all of the ideas presented here. Even if Spotify doesn’t want to commit to all of them, I still think it’s lacking in profile customization as of now. Listening habit statics are really interesting in general. I would want to use an app that can balance both a large library of artists to choose from and a way to creativity display what I do with the music I choose.

I think on the profile page it would be useful for non-artists to write about themselves! Things such as Pronouns, About me, Types of music, as well as links to their profile on other platforms such as Discord and YouTube.

The only thing that unites us all here is music itself. An intangible, unique and universal good that does not judge anyone according to ethnicity, gender, disability, politics... Therefore, why should we distinguish ourselves from each other simply to listen to music?

Activities such as music or sport should never be subject to any kind of transitory ideological tendency, especially if it is to fill the ego of a minority.

Hey Spotify Team,

I wanted to share an idea that could transform the way creators and their audiences connect on your platform – a Community Tab for profile accounts.

Here’s why this could be a game-changer:

  1. Deepen Creator-Fan Connections: A dedicated space for creators to interact directly with their listeners, share behind-the-scenes updates, and build deeper connections that go beyond just streams.

  2. Drive Platform Loyalty: By fostering a more personalized and interactive experience, creators can turn casual listeners into dedicated fans, boosting overall retention and engagement on Spotify.

  3. Real-Time Feedback and Growth: Creators could use this space for polls, Q&As, and real-time feedback, helping them shape their content based on what their fans truly love.

  4. Promote New Releases and Events: This could serve as a hub for promoting new episodes, exclusive drops, live events, or sneak peeks, keeping fans engaged between releases.

  5. Strengthen the Spotify Community: A community-focused tab can create a sense of belonging, encouraging more user-generated content and organic promotion through word of mouth.

With the rise of creator-driven platforms, a Community Tab could set Spotify apart as the go-to destination for meaningful audience interactions, bridging the gap between creators and their fans.

Would love to hear your thoughts on this!

Thanks for always pushing the boundaries of audio experiences.

Best,
 Glitch Code Awakening Studios
