Import YouTube Playlists into Spotify

Idea:
I recently created a wedding playlist on YouTube with over 100 songs. When I wanted to bring that playlist over to Spotify, I realised I had to manually copy and paste every single track name into Spotify’s search and add them one by one. For large playlists, this process is extremely time-consuming.

It would be fantastic if Spotify could introduce a feature to import playlists from YouTube (or other platforms). The tool would automatically match songs in the YouTube playlist to the closest match in Spotify’s catalogue and build the playlist for the user.

Benefits:

  • Saves hours of manual work when migrating playlists.

  • Makes it easier for new users to switch to Spotify from other platforms.

  • Encourages people to centralise their music libraries in Spotify.

  • Perfect for big events (like weddings, birthdays, parties) where people already have playlists on YouTube or elsewhere and want to bring them over quickly.

The feature doesn’t need to be perfect — even an “80–90% match” would be a huge time-saver compared to manual entry.

i see several issues with this:
  • 80%-90% match for a 100 song playlist (which isn't that much honestly) gets you 10-20 songs that do not match or could not be found. now imagine your wedding and some weird music you definitely didn't want to pop up gets played (fun for some guests for sure, but embarrassing for you).
  • due to above mentioned issue, you've to check your playlist anyways which is time consuming.
  • people are actually moving away from spotify (check the forums) for various justifiable reasons, let alone hardly new subscriptions are being made. most people want to "centralize" the music they hear somewhere else.
  • youtube is a competitor of spotify (both offer payed music streaming service). cannot imagine that alphabet (google) is going to allow an easy way to move away from their service.
  • Last but not least (which i kinda like): youtube is trying really hard to block alternatives which access videos, playlists or any other data outside youtube's website or client (technically, it's not possible to block these alternatives entirely as youtube is mostly free). they opening up makes it even easier for these alternatives to circumvent youtubes block.
