Mark / Disable AI Generated Songs

The platform is increasingly flooded with AI-generated songs (especially the Release Radar), making it harder for users to discover authentic, human-created music. To improve the listening experience, Spotify should introduce a clear label for AI-generated songs and provide an option to filter them out entirely.

Deezer published a press release about this problem in April including what they are doing to address it. I resent paying Spotify for fake content and have raised the issue with support - only for them to hang up on me ("not a technical or billing problem").

If you can exclude explicit content why can't we have a similar tick-box in settings to exclude AI-generated content? AI content appears with the 'Verified Artist' label, which is laughable.

Wow thx for the deezer link. Veeery interesting read. Almost 1/5…that’s insane. That’s going to increase even more I bet.
guess I’ll stick tobte good old songs and ignore the release radar for half a year. Quite sad.
And I’ll try to convince my wife to switch to Apple Music for some time. Gave it a try for a few month and it was better than expected.

If Deezer can do this so should spotify be able to. I´ve been a spotify user since the launching of spotify. I´ve been listening to music for the most of my life (70+) now. Listening to most genres through the years with the changing of styles in music. Yesterday I spent 2 hours looking to a docomentary called becomming Led Zeppelin. A very good movie what it takes to be an musican it`s a hard work learn to play and get the music to the crowd. With no streaming services it´s about playing live and hopefully get a record contract and get people to buy it. It´s nothing like this AI generated machine made so called music.

And if you don`t like Led Zeppelin it is still worth watching this movie just to see what making music is all about. So Spotify should implement the same as Deezer and where is the High resolution spotify has talked about for several years. This can you get on Deezer plus AI filter and for the same price as for Spotify. So i think i´m going to go for the 1 month free trial on Deezer and se if it fits my preferences. Keep on listening to good music made by real musicans with real instruments not machine made rubbish.

Some people enjoy those songs, and that’s totally fine.
But please give us the choice.

My biggest issue, it’s starting to ruin core features I used to love.

Weekly Discovery (30 songs, once a week) and Daylist (50 songs, every few hours) are basically unusable now.

Every week, about a third of my Weekly Discovery is AI-generated. That’s not just annoying, it feels forced.
Hiding or downvoting these songs? Doesn’t help. In fact, it seems to increase how often they show up.

Meanwhile, songs I like or add to playlists, share to friends rarely make it into the algorithm's suggestions, which is ironice as those should def. boost the amount of those Songs for me. Because well, songs i clearly use, like, share, interact with are songs which make me happy, no?

Over the last months, it’s spiraled out of control.
There’s no option to block artists, no way to filter AI music, no transparency.

And it’s not just the music.

The profile pictures and cover arts are AI-generated, too.
When there are people in the images, they never look the same twice.

Another example: a so-called "artist" with songs titled around “Underworld” or religious themes – which I never listen to, nor are those themes relevant to me.
And yet, it keeps showing up.
The images? AI again. The music? Same voice, same style, over and over.

I definitely don’t want to waste 10 out of 30 Weekly songs on content I actively try to avoid.

I've hidden or disliked over 100 songs recently, and it only got worse.
Right now, Spotify's algorithm rewards interaction even negative more than genuine interest.
That’s broken. Please fix it. Or at the very least: let us opt out.

Looks like it may be time to cancel my premium family plan and give deezer a try.

So, as the actual human Don McLean would sing:

Bye bye Procrustean spotify

I’ll take my money to the honey and we’ll give her a try

This lame platform that prefers **bleep** from AI

Is soon about to shrivel and die…**bleep** **bleep**

no ai was used in the creation of this post. I’m not sure any intelligence at all was used. 😜

One key question is whether some of this AI content is generated by Spotify itself. If they don't have to pay artist royalties on 20% of content that translates into many $millions. It would be interesting to get some clarity from Spotify on this question.

That would work well for the many 'play me a random chill mix in the background for my dinner party' type of users. Meanwhile we genuine musicians/music fans go bonkers.

AI in my discovery weekly and release radar is ridiculous. There should absolutely be a toggle on or off for AI content appearing. You already shaft artists all over the place, let us who want to support try our best.

Hasilyin

Screw Spotify, I'm moving to the competitor starting with D. At least they have a tool that detects this junk and allows you to filter out that stupid nonsense.

I've had it with you Spotify, your management and leadership is the worst. Bye.

Every second song on smart shuffle and the Friday Release Radar is AI. They don’t seem to care. All the same synthesised voice with robotic enunciation.

I completely agree and think this is a fantastic idea.

I do wonder how easy it would be to implement. My only concern would be legitimate artists somehow getting falsely flagged as an AI artist. Given Spotifys current record on false flags regarding artificial streaming, I’d want to make sure something like that doesn’t happen again here.

But I agree. I do not want to support any AI music.
