[Mobile] Choose the folder for local files.

When you check to read local music files, there is no option to choose a folder on mobile. If you tag it, it takes all the music and audio files from WhatsApp and other sources and mixes everything. You could create the option to choose the folder as in windows in the next updates.

just like everyone above, this feature makes so much sense on desktop apps, so it should apply on the mobile apps as well. please expedite this y'all, it's kinda silly that years after the local files update, there still isn't mobile support!

Highlighted this to support, hopefully it will help, because ovalseven is right, this is a bug, not a feature request. Especially since support confirmed that local files synchronization from a PC playlist to mobile has been discontinued.

Spotify used to allow you to add specific folders for local file play, even on mobile. I used to use the feature on my old phone, as well as the desktop client. Just found out I cannot specify or exclude folders on android spotify and I was baffled. Now it shows every audio file from every folder on my entire phone. Including whatsapp and voice recordings... all download files etc. This is a glaring issue that could easily be fixed.

Currently, in the desktop version of Spotify, users can exclude certain types of files from their libraries, preventing voice recordings and WhatsApp audios from mixing with their music. Implementing this option on mobile devices would be a great improvement for the community, allowing for a cleaner and more organized listening experience. Many users rely on the local library feature to access their own music but end up finding unwanted audio files in their playlists. With an option to filter these files on mobile, Spotify would offer a smoother and more personalized experience, avoiding interruptions and improving user satisfaction.

It's honestly shocking that this still hasn't been addressed. On desktop, we can choose exactly which folder to pull local files from — so why is this not possible on mobile? It makes the mobile experience a total mess. Every voice note, WhatsApp audio, and random ringtone gets dumped into my Spotify library when I just want to listen to my actual music files.

This should be a basic feature: let users select a specific folder (like /Music) instead of grabbing every audio file from the entire device. Please, Spotify — this would massively improve the user experience, and it's already working fine on the desktop version. We’re not asking for anything new or experimental — just bring folder selection to mobile too 🙏

It would be understandable for one to conclude that Spotify wanted access to the complete contents of your phone (at least audio files). This is a HUGE privacy and security issue. Like many people, I have voicemails and audio messages on my phone that are simply none of Spotify's (or anyone else's) business.

This has been an issue for many years and Spotify not only hasn't fixed it, but doesn't even acknowledge any of the many complaints about it.

That's the exact reason I almost never use the app and will be closing my account soon.

This should be fixed and shouldn't depend on votes to get any action done. Does every person use local files on Spotify, no, but some do and that should be reason enough to make it functional for those that do. I just want to listen to my music and not have to scroll though infinite call recordings, voice recordings, and other non music audio files to simply listen to and enjoy our music.

Agree with above comments; this isn't even a feature, it's a bug and a security issue.

Guys, I think this needs to go to reddit and other platforms, they clearly don't think this is important enough at the moment.

What **bleep** is in charge of this? I used to have everything mapped to a dropbox folder across all devices. Very simple. Now I have to manually download every file instead of mapping that path?!? I get that many (or most) users aren't using local files, but why would I want voicemails and voice memos in my local music files lol. The dumbest change I've ever seen. Did you think this through at all?? The only way, after hours of trouble shooting, I was able to get this work is delete all other audio files off my phone and download from Dropbox (files that already existed on my phone) manually. Seriously, fire someone and bring back a competent engineer.
