[Music] ASIO Output Support

Please can you add support for an ASIO audio output device?

As a owner of a separate headphone DAC + Amp, I get much better quality music when I'm using the bit-perfect ASIO output rather than DirectSound, which changes the audio bitstream before it reaches the DAC. ASIO output would be a great compliment to the Spotify high-quality streaming.

Thanks!

Found a "solution" for this:

Presenting VB-Audio Hi-Fi Cable & ASIO-Bridge:

* HIFI-CABLE driver is a virtual audio device appearing in the audio device list
* With ASIO-Bridge Application, HI-FI CABLE's Input can be routed to any ASIO Device Output
* For soundcards without native ASIO support (most soundcards) you also need ASIO4ALL

Yes, that lets you get some semblance of sound out to an ASIO device. But it does _not_ bypass the resampling inherent in the Spotify app or browser code - which is the main thing destroying their sound quality. They still need to give us a path to ASIO _before_ soundmanager2 or whatever disgusting code they are using these days!

If not implementing ASIO, Could you at least prevent Spotify from changing the current sampling rate (and selecting a wrong one)?

Thanks

請添加ASIO或是wasapi支持。我們發燒友迫切需要這個

@ilsk3n I got VB-Audio Hi-Fi Cable & ASIO-Bridge working with Realtek ASIO.

Better than via standard window audio mix out I guess (cant do exclusive mode with current spotify app), but agree with @lorenamelang as well.

+1 In 2020 still no bitperfect output is really lazy.

It isnt very hard to implement wasapi output, especially if one got the money and ressources that spotify has.

On the topic of feasible solutions in the meantime:

You guys/gals can use Kodi + Spotify Addon and set the Output to WASAPI .... this will give you the best audioquality because its really directly from ogg/pcm to your device without resampling or alterations to the bitstream.

All the virtual soundcards cant do this because they get fed whatever the spotify app outputs, which is most likely altered already.

And those will probably add some processing of their own unless they were designed with bitperfect in mind.

2020 is almost over and Spotify is still lagging behind in this regard, with more and more people getting better equipment thanks to the pandemic forcing most of us to work and study from home.

We've only just received family plans in Israel last month, the UI is only getting worse and worse, Amazon entered the competition, things are not looking bright.

With the Spotify Hi-Fi releasing soon adding ASIO/WASAPI makes even more sense, so please add this function (with more advanced options such as setting WASAPI to event mode) as it is real gamechanger for external DAC/AMPs users.

Now that Hifi is happening, the option to have direct sound, asio, or wapasi needs to happen.
