One-tap “Add to current playlist” button
When listening to one of my playlists, I sometimes discover a recommended song through Smart Shuffle that I want to keep. I would love a dedicated button that adds the currently playing song directly to that playlist with a single tap, without opening a menu or selecting the playlist again.
The button could use a small playlist icon with a plus sign:
- In Spotify’s Now Playing view.
- On the iPhone lock-screen player, if supported by iOS.
“Current playlist” means the playlist from which playback was started, provided the user has permission to add songs to it.
After tapping, a brief confirmation could show “Added to [playlist name]”, with an Undo option. If the song is already in that playlist, the button should show a checkmark and prevent duplicates.
This would make saving discoveries much easier, especially while listening on the go.
The two attached concept images illustrate possible button placements. The lock-screen version is a design proposal, subject to iOS capabilities.
