The ability to disable the Jam function.

Ok so Jam function seems incredibly odd to begin with, but I suppose in a rare instance where you want to listen to love songs with someone who's far away at the exact same time, or you're running a silent Disco, there might be a use for it for a very small number of people.

But there should be an option to disable it in your settings. Let's start with the hypothetical scenario that I don't want to run into: A crazy ex or a stalker trying to send me their sad playlist everyday. Also, and possibly more frustrating, is the automatic prompt that comes of when you and another person listening to Spotify are on the same Wi-Fi. Why am I being sent an unprompted question without an invitation from another user in my home or business if I would like to join and listen to exactly what they're listening to at the same time. If I happen to want that, would I not just play the music aloud? We obviously already started listening to what we want to listen to on our own devices by ourselves, so why would I suddenly want to listen to exactly what they want to listen to?  Automatically searching for users on the same Wi-Fi seems crazy intrusive to me what if we're on a public Wi-Fi at a mall? How many prompts would you'd be receiving to join? Anyway I don't mind if this crazy feature (that I'm willing to bet a Year's membership that under 5% of users use monthly) stays on the app,  I just want the ability to turn it off so it doesn't bother me while I'm listening to music by myself.

Here's my fix for this again - remove Spotify permission to run on background on your phone. Drawback is that the app keeps pushing the background permission here and there and maybe the app stops playing sometimes and I just have to hit play again. Anyways, way less annoying than this "feature" popping up. And if this is what you do with the background running permission, I'll rather block it.

Can't believe that Spotify refuses to remove this super annoying feature or at least make it optional.

  • A terrible thing happened with this feature this morning. I got a JAM session join notification while I was on LTE on public transport. I saw a stranger's username and a photo of her (her profile pic) without her consent. I wasn't even connected to a wifi network. This is a huge privacy concern as I can't seem to disable this feature. I wonder if we brought this up with those EU privacy policies if Spotify would wake up! Note: I am always connected to my personal home network wireguard VPN but no one was home using Spotify (I would have recognized the Spotify user on the jam session notification if there was and not post this complaint.)

Please turn this off, it’s such a bad feature

GET RID OF THIS FEATURE, or at the very LEAST allow it to be removed from the user interface. It restarts CONSTANTLY and I haven’t even given permission to Spotify to access my phone’s Bluetooth.

if Spotify wants to continue to take my money, then this needs to be fixed because I have been complaining for MONTHS and I’m quite obviously NOT the only one. There are multiple forums dedicated to trying to get around this **bleep** feature. I’m over it. I own all of the music I listen to anyways, I don’t need this.

kill it and fire the guy who is responsible

I can’t listen to music at work on the wifi using bluetooth headphones without Spotify suggesting to coworkers that I do not know that they should join my jam. This has to stop - you should be able to restrict this feature if not to get rid of it entirely. The only solution I have is to constantly turn on a private session while at work / in public which is not sustainable.

the jam function is absolute PRIVACY violating trash and needs to be opt IN and NOT present in our user interface unless we actually have any intention of using it. I DO NOT.

Spotify has crossed a line. I never concented to auto searching. I just learned auto search works via Bluetooth. I like the feature when I intentionally use it. This feels like spying and invasion of privacy. Please fix, I enjoy the app and this leaves a bad taste.

PLEASE make an option to disable spotify jam, I feel like spotify are adding more and more additions (and upping the price) that users absolutely do not want or need and it's driving me nuts. The only thing that keeps me with spotify at the moment is how long I've been collating music

The problem with jam session is that some pervert can take advantage of me and hit me with their explicit **bleep**. I don't need some jacked up person controlling MY music and MY device!

Also it is a HUGE security risk for YOU to insist that WE listen and jam with some stranger who YOU don't even know! Black hat hackers who want to steal data only need a jam session started in order to  sneak into a device through some loop hole you don't even know exist, and exploit away. It generally takes months before anyone notices that this exploit even exists. The better Hackers go years undetected stealing millions of dollars of data.

This is a huge problem! I don't need Jam session with rapist, stalker, pervert, black hat hacker, police officer, Christian, Muslim, Jew, Stranger with baby listening to lullabies while I'm driving, and so on! I do not need "hey jam now" popping up while I am driving and can NOT stop it!

This person needs a very specific play list for driving or for working, so that I stay focused. Your evil to the core insistence I need to jam with some jacked up person is monstrous! It distracted me, stopped MY music and now I am here yelling at you! If I stay home, where no one has spotify because everyone hates you, I don't have this problem! YOU make zero money off of me because no one where I live loves you! My sister refuses to get spotify! She thinks you are full of satanic music and sexually explicit content and images! And that paying for you, is the same as paying **bleep** to do evil.

Well, this jam session proves you are evil trying to push **bleep**'s demise of evil upon me! However, I have no alternative, so I stay. 😛 Apple music is pure evil **bleep**! I need playlist and apple wants to pretend I don't need them my way.
