The ability to disable the Jam function.

Ok so Jam function seems incredibly odd to begin with, but I suppose in a rare instance where you want to listen to love songs with someone who's far away at the exact same time, or you're running a silent Disco, there might be a use for it for a very small number of people.

But there should be an option to disable it in your settings. Let's start with the hypothetical scenario that I don't want to run into: A crazy ex or a stalker trying to send me their sad playlist everyday. Also, and possibly more frustrating, is the automatic prompt that comes of when you and another person listening to Spotify are on the same Wi-Fi. Why am I being sent an unprompted question without an invitation from another user in my home or business if I would like to join and listen to exactly what they're listening to at the same time. If I happen to want that, would I not just play the music aloud? We obviously already started listening to what we want to listen to on our own devices by ourselves, so why would I suddenly want to listen to exactly what they want to listen to?  Automatically searching for users on the same Wi-Fi seems crazy intrusive to me what if we're on a public Wi-Fi at a mall? How many prompts would you'd be receiving to join? Anyway I don't mind if this crazy feature (that I'm willing to bet a Year's membership that under 5% of users use monthly) stays on the app,  I just want the ability to turn it off so it doesn't bother me while I'm listening to music by myself.

Quote - The worst part about this feature is that the person on the other end doesn’t have to accept the jam invitation. If the jam feature is on someone can just join and switch your music, this is very frustrating at school.

SECURITY ALERT! This quote above, should be given to your SECURITY IT department because this means you already have an exploitation bug on your Jam session IF this is happening - students are forcing jam sessions that someone did not accept, and switching their music! you have a huge security bug here!

This does not need votes, just send this info the IT already! Thank you!

After over a decade of paying for Spotify Premium, I am going to cancel. I have to find a different way to listen to music that doesn’t involve threats to privacy and safety. Jam should be opt-in. I was driving and listening to music when a stranger joined my jam (from a nearby car?) and changed the music. It was so jarring that I almost got into an accident. It felt violating, and now I am afraid to use it in Public. At the very least I should have to consent to somebody changing my music, on a service that I pay for no less.

I have lost trust in Spotify. This seems like a liability for the company. It is disappointing that Spotify is taking such a reactive posture, requiring X amount of people to report. They should research features and how people use them before enabling something like this. I didn’t know about jams until this happened.

Please fix this feature. Making jams opt-in would fix this, and I would consider returning.

I almost got in a car accident because of the jam feature. I am planning to cancel (need to transfer over a decade of playlists to something else). This is a privacy nightmare, and I can only imagine the ways this has been and will be misused. I wonder if other people have been harmed or had near misses beyond these comments (registering for community is horrendous and multistep.) Then I got cutoff from liking comments. It seems like Spotify does not care about its members, their privacy, or safety.

This deserves way more attention than just waiting for votes.  It’s a major privacy concern!  My son, and probably my other kids, are prompted to join my listening sessions WITHOUT MY CONSENT!!  I am an adult and want to freely listen to my podcasts and music without worrying if my kids are also listening in. Or spending time with my partner at night, they should not be able to join those private sessions. Even when I had the app closed, it still prompted my son to join when I was not listening.  I have no idea how often they are getting asked, and if they are joining.  My only workaround for this is to block them (but then do I have to block everyone that visits my house?), or start a private session (which only lasts 6 hours).  But the fact that I don’t get asked for others to join my session, but they can just invade my privacy, is a reason I would totally cancel this app for the family if it’s not fixed soon.

When will this be fixed?

and how are people who aren’t on the same wifi network able to join a jam!!!

Hello Spotify! Moderators! Is there anyone out there? Can you give some signal of life. Why are you still not reacting to this?

Be real nice if whatever **bleep** who thought Jam was a good idea was fired, but I'm pretty certain the management at spotify is too busy huffing their own farts and ripping off artists who make a product that people actually want to do anything about it. I'm not saying their management is incompetent, but you'd have to be god's perfect **bleep** to think allowing random strangers to be able to go in and mess with someone else's playlist with no way of stopping them was a good idea. Just the smoothest brains in charge.

How is it possible that there is still no reaction from Spotify to any of this? I had a chat with customer service, forwarded this discussion, and he promised to "take this to appropriate people" or something. I bet the message disappears into oblivion but maybe someone eventually pay attention if there is more customer service contacts. In addition to commenting here can ppl please also contact customer service. Chat was pretty quick to get through. I really would not want to stop using spotify but can't deal with this crp.

I did contact customer service, *months* ago to complain. I was directed to this feed. They don’t care.
