Turn off autoplay videos

Setting option where i can DISABLE videos.
I pay spotify premium for music / no ads! Since this s**t att where video become avaiable, it starts automatically.
I searched trought setting and didnt find a way to turn'em off.

One specific scenario, podcasts. 99% the podcast I listen, are from YT. If i DO WANT to see video, i go for yt, since im on AUDIO APP thats what i want, not video! And i hate the fact it autoplay everytime!

I need the setting option to disable videos ASAP. (Then if u want video i mannualy turn on, not the oposite)

I think its an actual joke that Spotify developers thought that enabling videos on Spotify TV by default was a great idea. The fact that you cannot disable the feature is an even funnier joke. Firstly, not all TVs have the capability of smoothly running videos which results in a disruptive listening experience. Secondly, internet bandwidth also fluctuates leading to buffering that wouldn't be the case if I was listening on audio only. Third, music videos are more often that not different to the audio version with stuff like dialogues and samples which ruin the listening experience. I had to try out YouTube Music but I still prefer the Spotify UI on phone/tv as well as the algorithm, but this one feature, which can easily be solved by adding a 'disable video' button, is the one disadvantage that is hard to overlook. JUST ADD THE OPTION TO DISABLE VIDEO ON SPOTIFY TV.

I want to express to you with clear language how angry I am to find video on my homepage now, all your sponsored content that I don't want to see is bad enough but not to have video in my face makes your platform far less appealing to you. You're cheapening yourselves. The fact there is no option to hide or not show videos is a slap in the face. I listen to music for the fact I don't need to be bombarded with video like I am on every other website on the Internet, congratulations you've likened yourself to click bait . Spotify , you suck.

Just to add to the chorus of people saying it absolutely ruins listening on a TV because for some reason it cannot buffer enough video to smoothly. Netflix, Prime, Disney, etc. manage it, Spotify should stick to what they're good at and only stream music.

A toggle in settings needs to be implemented as soon as possible. I've had spotify for 3 years, but I'm about to stop. The audio quality isn't the same, and the volume isn't on the same high level. Not to forget all the annoying dialogs in music videos. Please let us disable it before you lose customers.

My Question or Issue

Since the last update, when a song has a video, it will automatically play. I find this very annoying for 4 reasons:

1- I like listening music at high audio quality, and in most cases, the audio in the videos are lower than the “very high” quality of media I use. Every time I want to listen to a song, I have to interrupt it to switch to video mode.

2- In many videos, there is an intro without music, and I just want to listen to the song, not watching the video and hearing random sounds.

3- I just simply don't want to watch videos. I want to use Spotify to listen to music, and that's it. The dynamic in videos distracts me when I'm studying, for example. I don't want more stimuli than what I already have with social media.

4- More time to load songs.

There should be and option to disable video mode. I definitely don't want to watch videos on Spotify, I'm there just for the music.

I hope you can fix this. Before it was far better.

  • Literally the most annoying thing ever.
I pay to listen to music, not to corny dialogue and special effects.
    fix this please 🙏

Really annoying. You do seem to get an option to disable the video clip for the song you're listening to (a popup). But that only temporarily disables the videos. After a while, some random song starts playing its video clip again, leaving me realizing I've been staring at an annoying video clip again. Spotify has become a source of distraction, rather than a pleasant background music player. First feature in Spotify history that makes me start hating the software.

I listen to Spotify on my Xbox One. Currently, there is no option to turn off the automatic showing of videos when starting a new playlist. I find the videos to be extremely annoying and unnecessary as I want to listen to music and not look at videos, I have YouTube for that. I would love to have an option to disable this function.

I see there's now a momentary button to play audio instead, so someone at Spotify has noticed our complaints, but this doesn't go far enough. How about having the audio streaming service default to audio? Or even better let us set it on a per-account basis?

I have been a paying Spotify subscriber for years. I only use it for music and the occasional audio book. I was shocked when I opened the app and a video for some click-bait podcast started playing right in the middle of the home screen. First of all, I don't need "recommendations;" secondly, if you do still feel the need to advertise to paying users, at least male it possible to disable auto-play. Even Facebook has better content controls than this! Seriously looking into switching to Apple Music right now.
