[Your Library] Order/sort albums by release date/year

Now that the original release year should be available please add an option to the new album view to use it for sorting.

there could be options for at least:

"SORTED BY ARTIST / YEAR"

"SORTED BY ARTIST / TITLE"

"SORTED BY YEAR"

There could be some kind of subtle separator where the artist changes when listing the album covers. Also the release year should be shown in the album images.

Thanks everyone for continuing to keep the pressure on Spotify to deliver meaningful innovation for those of us who love music. I've been curating my playlists since the 80s when I was making mix tapes. It would be SO easy to add the ability to sort by year AND by the month of release.

I’d love to see a “Sort by Release Date” option in the Library. When albums I saved years ago are updated and I save them again, they appear at the top of the “Recently Added” list, even though their original release date was much earlier. This makes it harder to organize and explore my library chronologically. Adding this feature would make navigating saved albums much smoother and more intuitive.

being able to organize songs into playlists by artists/albums would be really convenient. i personally have a playlist of album archives of songs from all artists i listen to and if i forget one or discover a new one, it's quite tedious to click the edit playlist button and scroll all the way through over hundreds of songs without album covers or noticeable identifiers. perhaps a "sort by artist" option would be helpful in all playlists!

I have created various favorite playlists. A playlist for every year, 2013 to 2024. Over time, artists release remasters of the songs. Now I wanted to replace the songs in the playlists with the remastered versions. But there is only the function to delete a song and add a new one. That would mess up my order because I collect by "Add" date. Can you add such a function later?

I want to remember exactly when I added which song and date. It's like a kind of "book" from my life. If I delete a song, the date also changes. A small note (replaced) would be fine, but not necessary.

It may be that this request is a bit special... I also use Spotify a lot and have personalized my own way of using it. Maybe my idea will be well received because other users use the app in a similar way. Thank you

I think a Sort by release date would be a great feature (as demonstrated by the requests here since 2014--over a decade!)

I'd love to listen to chronological releases by the artist so as to have the old school experience (or even just mimic) of listening to a tape/CD whenever a new album or single gets released.

Most artists have their official playlists sorted by custom order, and usually by their release dates. Unfortunately we have no way of reversing this, nor is "Sort by added date" helpful in this case because a lot of them add older releases in bulk.

I hope Spotify listens to its users for this particular request. 🙏

Please add this feature. I want to sort my liked albums by release date. This isn't a difficult feature to add. It will take less time than reading every comment in this thread.

They finally did it😀! Sort by release date. You need of course album view --> sorty by --> release date. Works in the (Android) app as desktop app. Thank you Spotify, it only took you 11+ years 😉.

ps Don't try try sort reversed in the desktop app, this will crash the sidepane and a reinstall is the only solution. Android doesn't has this option. Also scrolling further than you last album in some views, gives this error (clicking reload works this time).

No.  They did not.

If you re-read the OP you will see "SORTED BY ARTIST / YEAR".

1. Add the 15 albums of Queen to "Your Library"

2. Go into Your Library and set the filter to "Albums".

You are not able to sort by "Creator", and THEN "Release Date"
