We are very early into the new year but thought we might as well start a thread for the best albums for 2016. I'm holding off with nominations until something really grabs my attention but feel free to post your recommendations here folks. Try and keep things to one recommendation per post. Cheers!
Hello everyone,
I might be a little late with this one, but I just had the time to listen to the full Solange Album, 'A Seat at the table'. And i must say, i'd totally recommend it, the songs are so smooth and with a nice beat to it - since I assume you all already know about her awesome vocals-, perfect to the times when you just want to sit back and chill or simply work.
🙂 Hope you like it !
@ximenaavila definitely! the interludes are great and the opening is super strong
For me has to be the fifth installment The Dear Hunter's Act series; Act V: Hymns with the Devil in Confessional.
Sounds amazing on its own, but gets even better after having listened the four albums that preceded it 🙂
Hey 😃
I highly enjoyed White lies new album "friends" and think it deserves much credit.
What do you think? 😃
I struggle to find the words to describe the brilliance of this album, and yet when I find the right words, I can't stop them!
My favourite thing about this album is how perfectly rounded it is. Every song is just another page of the chapter (album). The album is far from just a bunch of singles brought together to form a collection of songs. The whole album tells a story.

Can't get enough of Bonny Bear
Set It Off is a not a widely known band, but they released a new album in 2016 and its pretty good. Here you go.

The Life of Pablo by Kanye is amazing. Ultralight Beam is such a beautiful song, and the short "Frank's Track" makes you wish a song that short was longer!
Kara Kelly - Be The Change.
Dumb Hole, the most immense and "in your face" rock duo to ever have walked the earth..., has just released their debut album and it´s a killer! If you are into alternative/modern rock, post grunge kind of stuff, this is a must!

It's hard to say one, but Honne's "Warm On A Cold Night" is an absolute gem!!

Definitely Illuminate by Shawn Mendes.
The Most Beautiful Moment in Life Trilogy (Pt.1,2, and Young Forever) by BTS
Reasions:
(1) They won the award for the best album on Melon Music Awards, one of the most prestigious music award shows (on par with the Grammys)
(2) They have won multiple awards
(3) Many other reasons
(4) Go listen to it!
Wings by BTS
Because The Most Beautiful Moment in Life's third part is not on Spotify, I'd like to nominate another album by BTS. Wings came out on October 9 and has soared in popularity. It talks about issues like women empowerment, resisting temptation, societal issues, having apprection for your family and your origin, being grateful for your parents' sacrifices, reality and depression, first loves, the reprecussions of lying, hope, flying (figuratively), and so much more. "So what?" you may ask. Well, this group is a k-pop group and those topics are almost never talked about in a rather conservative society such as South Korea. Not only are the lyrics amazing but the musical composition is great too. Their title song "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" is moombahton, a combination of reggaeton and moomba, is more than just dance music with layers of "multiple sonic elements".
