Background noise

When listening to songs, about 10% carry a background noise that sounds like someone playing a harpsichord without strings or with hollow blocks of wood.

Is this happening to specific songs or is it just a random occurrence?

How you've described the issue sounds like poor quality audio file to me. Please post links to songs you hear this happen so I can go further 🙂
