Hiya Folks,
The ancient art of the guitar solo done by many, mastered by few. I've come across so many lists of "The Best Solos of All Time" it starts to become a bit annoying because I know it's only one person's opinion. That's where you come in. I want to know some of the best solos you've ever heard.
Also, I would like to make a small playlist of your favourites. With more people adding suggestions we should have a more rounded list that covers everyone.
Here's my suggestion. The solo starts at 1:50
Great! I love that solo too!
Here are some of my favorites:
No More Tears- Ozzy
Kissing The Shadows- Children Of Bodom
Tornado Of Souls- Megadeth
and of course Hotel California
to name a few
This song below always does it to me. It is a classic rock song, but somehow the Organ intro keyboard parts and then the building rock song behind it all with it's fantastic guitar parts just hits you somehow, and blows you over. After all these years this song is still so powerful. But then again this whole debut album by Boston was pure gold when it came out. So many bands have used their recording techniques in those analog recording days to create big powerful guitar sounds in the studio, allot of early 80's hard rock and metal bands benefited what Boston could do in the studio with speaker placement, and amp modification technology.

Thanks for your great suggestions! I've started the playlist if you would like to take a look so far...

Awesome idea! Don't forget Comfortambly Numb by Pink Floyd!!
That would be my choice but since you've already suggested it, my favourite solo is Al Anderson on Bob Marleys' "No Woman, No Cry", on "Live at the Lyceum".
Good idea, but i can't find the playlist on your profile.
This is one of my favorite tracks with (two) guitar solos by John Mclaughlin and Carlos Santana
Thanks for the heads up I think you can see now it. https://open.spotify.com/user/lukebotham1/playlist/6EJhk0BU4uwwjvS9fkW2d5
Great artists by the way!
Ahh just thought of another classic Rock album with big guitar sounds and awesome solo work as well. REO Speedwagon's Hi Infidelity, only the expanded 30th anniversay editon is available to me currently. "Six songs from this album hit the Billboard charts, including "Keep On Loving You" which was the band's first Number 1 hit, and "Take It on the Run", which reached No. 5 on the charts." Wikipeda page on the release: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hi_Infidelity
The first 10 songs are the standard 2011 remasters, and the songs sound fantastic now with some added clean up with digital tech. Pick and choose which songs you like, like with Boston's debut, this whole album was solid gold when it came out in November of 1980. Hint spot if you can hear some of same guitar amp sound and recording techniques from Boston here. 🙂 Another couple of Hard Rock bands would do the same, Van Halen would use the same recording techniques for that loud amphitheater guitar sound in their late 70's mid 80's guitar rock sound, and also Def Leppard as well as part of the NWOBHM explosion sound.
Awesome, great songs guys! If you have any more songs you want to add make sure to it post here or PM me and I'll add it 😄
This is always a good song, has that boogie rock mixed in with the mid 70's hard rock direction of the times as well. Foghat's - Slow Ride.
Mann what a classic! Nice choice!
Here's, well, all of mine.
There's some that aren't guitar, but sax, scat, trombone, drums, etc but mostly guitar.
I've got time's on some of them, but not all.
My friend showed me this song a long time ago. I'm not a big fan of The Doors, but i really like the guitar solo in this one! It's one of my favourites.

Here, I like the mix of genres in this song, I wouldn't say it has the greatest solo ever, but I find the song good in its entirety, the solo adds a little something to it.

This one's my personal favorite
Two songs come to mind that are wonderful guitar solos at the same time.
If we exclude guitar-heroes, I will think of something else in the afternoon.

Hii LukeBotham1,
Check out this solo! It starts at 2:30 and takes half of the song! Love to hear what you think of it!

This one by Derek Trucks from Tedeschi Trucks Band always gets me: the build is magnificent, and the song itself is just beautiful with its sunset vibes. I'm not saying it's the best or the greatest solo ever written, but it's certainly one of my faves.
Enjoy!
