Curious about the guitar technique in part of a song

Curious about the guitar technique in part of a song

I was listening to this song by the Spanish stoner rock band Wicked Wizzard, and there’s a distinctive sound to some of the guitarist’s notes in a few places that I’m having trouble describing. It sounds like to me there’s a dissonance in the guitar sound that appears and disappears in intervals in a fluid way. You can hear it at 9 minutes and 45 seconds into the song, for one example:

It sounds to me like the guitarist is playing a two-string chord, and perhaps bending the strings, possibly causing overtones to be heard. However, my knowledge of guitar techniques is limited, as I play guitar only as a hobby.

I like this sound that the guitarist creates in moments such as these, though, and thought I’d ask on the Community in case anyone knows more about this technique.

Hey @AdamDamon!

That's a cool sound, unfortunately, I can't provide any insights on how this technique is called or how to do it 😞 My guitar knowledge is close to 0. However, I found their Instagram and they do have a few videos where you can see the guitarist playing. I wasn't able to find this exact technique in the videos though.

Thanks for sharing, I've listened to a few of their songs and they look like a cool band!

Thank you for your reply, @Jose_M!

No worries, this is a very specific sound that I wouldn't expect most people to know very much about. I also appreciate that you listened to the song I shared, and checked out the band's videos on their Instagram page.

I also thought I'd mention that one of my favorite songs released last year was from another Spanish stoner rock band (Free Ride), and I thought I'd share it with you in case you haven't heard it before:

Oh, thanks for sharing this @AdamDamon! Love the vibe. It starts pretty calm, then increasingly gets more intense and the las few seconds is back to 0 again with almost like an echoing sound. It's a rollercoaster of a song, thanks again for sharing.
