Let's say I don't want to be offered remastered versions of old songs and only want to listen to the original ones, is there a way to exclude songs based on this criteria or based on the "remastered" keyword in Spotify search results?
Thanks
There's a difference between remastered and rerecorded. The latter is very often an irritating new recording of a good old original. A remastered song on the other hand is the original, where they have 'cleaned' the old master tapes.
I know, but I generally prefer to listen to the original versions, even with their flaws, if not for their flaws.
Plus, remastering is generally justified to make songs render better on popular devices of the moment, typically bluetooth speakers these days, if not phones speakers, but I'm using vintage studio headphones that are not what sound engineers have in mind.
I can see we agree 😎
I think Spotify has the right to have the remastered albums in its catalogue, but we users have the right to have the originals too! Unfortunately, very often, the original versions are not available and that is very wrong!
hear hear! listen to music the way we want.... then if just to have a choice to choose the remaster if it turns out to be a well engineered
mix as opposed to a compressed over saturated pile of loudness wars.
has anyone worked out how to hide or exclude remasters?
I don't necessarily want to exclude remastered songs. What I want is to prevent Spotify from suggesting other versions of the same songs that I've already tagged. For instance, Spotify may suggest a song that I like - I am left wondering "if I tag this song will I have 2 versions of the same song?", or should I go to the trouble of seeing if I've already tagged the original version of the song and therefore not tag their suggested remaster.
