Android's app beta version 9.0.48 crashing

We've received reports about the latest beta version 9.0.48 being unstable. The app may crash when opening Your Library, and playlists, albums and artist pages won’t load: an error message “something went wrong” is shown. It’s as if Spotify is offline, despite having perfect internet connection.

Hi folks,

Thanks for your patience while we investigate this issue.

We're happy to announce that this should now be fixed for everyone - just make sure you're running the latest version of Spotify.

Cheers 🤘

Temporary solution for now, add playlist to library with plus in search results then hold on the playlist in your library and select start a jam to add the playlist to your queue. You can end jam afterwards and whole playlist will be in queue.

May 25th, the app is now working for me. My temporary solution to be able to play music was to ask "Hey Google" to play my playlist of songs that I like, I say this in case it still doesn't work for someone or something happens Something similar that can help someone in this somewhat desperate situation, at least for me.

I am experiencing a very similar problem to OP.

No songs or playlists will load. I have followed all the same steps as OP as well to try and resolve this (stop, clear, delete, uninstall, reboot, reinstall several times etc). Logging into a browser, my account works fine, but using it from my Samsung S25 Ultra (using latest update, Android 15 etc) just yields "An error occurred" when trying to load a playlist.

I have even logged in with my partner's account (which works on his phone fine), and I experience the same issue.

I have logged in on the browser and verified my Country is set to the correct location (UK). This happens on both Wi-Fi and Data.

Letting you know, I updated to version 9.0.48.225 and the issue is still there. The entire is app unusable, everything either breaks or crashes. I have to play playlists and make queues through the desktop version because the app won't work.

I was using the beta version, then I opted out when I saw it broke and it still didn't fix it. I rejoined today to get the daily updates in case the devs fix it

Spotify App Version:

  • 9.0.48.225

Issue Description:
Today randomly spotify didndt work anymore. I can open the app, search for songs, and play music without any issue. However, whenever I try to open any artist profile or playlist, I get the following error:

“Something went wrong. Check your internet connection and try again.”
or

“Something went wrong. Have another go?”

This happens on both Wi-Fi and mobile data. I have already:

  • Left the beta program

  • Uninstalled and reinstalled the app

  • Cleared cache and app data

  • Rebooted and shut down the phone completely

  • Ensured all updates (system + Spotify) are installed

  • Disabled VPNs, Private DNS, and data saver

Despite all that, the issue persists. The rest of the app works fine — it's only artist profiles and playlists that fail to load and maybe more.

Steps to Reproduce:

  1. Open Spotify

  2. Search for a song — works fine

  3. Try to open the artist's profile or a playlist — error message appears

I have the same problem on 9.0.48.169 and again on 9.0.48.225. Troubleshooting doesn't work, the only solution is for a dev fix.

Installed v9.0.40.391. It works.
Then I turned off auto update in play store.
And updated the app via Galaxy Store to v9.0.44.478.

Could have installed directly from Galaxy Store, but I didn't want to take a chance.

For anyone experiencing these issues on a Samsung Galaxy device, please follow these steps to resolve this (until the devs find out what is going on):

1. Do the usual recommended steps for a clean uninstall (make sure you know your login details):

  a) Open up Settings > Apps > Spotify. Force Stop.

  b) (Still in App Settings for Spotify) Storage > Clear Cache. Then Clear Data.

  c) Uninstall.

  d) Reboot. I personally like to do a full Power Off and then Power back on after a few seconds (rather than Restart).

2. Go to the Galaxy Store (NOT the Google Play Store) and search for (and install) Spotify.

3. Sign in as usual, follow prompts to accept app permissions (or reject by preference). Songs and playlists should appear again.

NOTE - on the free version, it looks like Spotify have removed the full list of songs that you could scroll through and see in a playlist. This doesn't seem to be the case on the Premium version, and you can see your songs as usual.

@Devs - I'm assuming that this is something to do with the bundled/split APK that is used in the Google Play Store. It appears that the version in the Galaxy store is a regular/single APK and is not causing the same issue as the Google Play Store version (at least for me).

Same issue as OP, on a beta

My app just closes whenever I open a playlist, album, or an artist's page. I'm a beta tester and I don't know where to give feedback to Spotify, so I'm posting here. It happened for the first time yesterday (the 20th).

When I try to open a playlist, a message appears saying "Something went wrong" and gives me the option to try again — but nothing happens when I do. And when I try to go back to the previous page, the app just closes.
