Issue with storage option switching from SD Card to internal

Plan

Device

Moto X4

Operating System

My Question or Issue

This happened with my last phone, Samsung S7 running Oreo (or whatever the most recent OS is) but it was fixed when I got the Moto X4. I like to keep a lot of songs downloaded offline because my service is terrible and I also spend a lot of time in the mountains. Before I I update my phone to the new Android Pie OS there was no problems. Now everytime I reset my phone I think spotify cannot see my SD card at first and tries to download all the music to its internal storage and I have to go back in and tell it to store it in the SD card. That is extremely annyoing but not the end of the world. What is really frustrating is that I think all of the downloaded songs are still on the SD card and just keep redownloading and taking up space. Eventually this will cause me to reformat the card which will be a major pain for me since I store a large amount of photos on there also. Is anyone else have this problem? I have already uninstalled and reinstalled the application so any other suggestions or help?

Highlight the app go to app info then app battery usage set it to
restricted before restarting. In older android versions put the app into
deep sleep mode. Then don't change it back or open the app until you have
confirmed that the SD card is loaded...

Hi! For some reason I find that my phone is running out of storage, and then I am horrified to discover that Spotify has transferred the entire cache from the SD card to the device's memory again. It takes a very long time to return cache from DM to SDM. It's about 20 GB of high quality music, and is hours of downloading. Why does this happen and how can I get rid of it?

I use Premium plan.

My device is Samsung Galaxy A51: One UI 5.1, Android 13.

This may be old but I have a Samsung and the Device Care, but I can't figure out out to exclude another app from optimization. Can you be more specific?

Samsung s20+ and having this issue as well. My best guess is that it's because Spotfiy starts some background task the moment your phone turns on, but doesn't wait for the SD card to be fully mounted. It sees there's no SD card and switches to device storage.

PLEASE FIX THIS! Every time I restart my phone the storage fills up to 100% and I have to wait for a lengthy download and transfer back to SD card.

This issue is wayback 2018. Specially on samsung devices. Sadly spotify is not taken any action to solve this. Years later still a bug.

Hi all,

I use Spotify (Premium) on my Samsung A52, on which l store my Spotify songs/data on my SD card.

However, every time l restart my phone (once a week), Spotify automatically changes it to the internal storage. I then have to move the data to the SD card over again.

How can l sort that out?

Thank you in advance

I haven't yet found a way to exclude any single app.

This is incredibly irritating.

Happening to me too. I'm running android 13 on a 1 year old galaxy a04. It has no trouble installing to my SD card but after an update... Boom! It deletes all my downloaded music and tries to install it again on my internal storage. After that it just crashes and has all sorts of weird things when I try to transfer the data back to the SD card. (It needs a full uninstall and reinstall to fix). Maybe the spotify developers should stop blaming the SD cards and FIX THE PROBLEM!?
