Non-car Bluetooth devices displaying in Car View mode

Hey there,

We've seen reports of some Bluetooth connections to other devices displaying Car View. The right team is aware of this.

If you're experiencing this, let us know by adding your +Vote the info requested in the Status Update.

All the best!

Hey folks!

We're aware of individual cases where this still happens and will continue looking into the issue.
We don't have an immediate ETA for a fix, but it's on our radar.

Keep your apps up to date at all times and we'll let you know once there's new info on our end 🙂
Thanks!

I've also got this issue with my new Gerrard Street Boss headphone. When it's connected to my OnePlus 6, Spotify automatically switches to car view.

My Vizio TV Soundbar connects in car view while my cheap aftermarket car bluetooth adaptor from Amazon will NOT allow car vew.  My Vizio Soundbar identifies on the iphone as speakers, while the bluetooth car adaptor identifies as headphones.

I would love the feature to allow user to choose car view on or off for EACH bluetooth device rather than making the decision on our behalf wrongly.

Hi,

I have the Sony WI-XB400 in ear bluetooth headphones and they start up the Car display on my iPhone.

These are the specifications:

Thank you!

I just got the Soundpeats Q35HD in ear bluetooth headphones and they start up the Car display on my Galaxy s9.

It is going on a year now that this has been a known issue, are there any plans on fixing it? All we are getting in response is "it's being looked into", but is it really?

I would like to add, on top of the issue I had posted about almost a year ago, I continue to have Car Mode even when there is no bluetooth devices connected and I do still have the feature turned off in the settings. It seems like it would be an easy fix, just make the on and off feature in the settings work.

I think that what @spython said earlier is a good option. We want to have manual choose of blutooth device which will trigger car view. Something like "always use car view when connected to TP_link_audio". I think it's not hard to do, because we have paired bluetooth devices list remembered.

My problem is that even though I have the setting turned off, it's still automatically starting when detecting Bluetooth devices. It's not a matter of detecting the difference between a car and headphones and behaving differently (which also is a problem). I have the entire setting disabled and still does it.

Is this what everyone else is experiencing too?

Audi a4 2014 and iphone. It is so annoying that I’m considering removing the app.

@Katerina

Some good news for this thread,  I can report the issue as resolved on the KitSound Accent 60.  I no longer get car mode when connecting this headphone on either Android or iOS.

Big thanks to the team for fixing this.

Status changed to: Not Right Now

Hey folks,

Thank you for reporting this issue to us.

We just wanted to let you know that the right folks are looking into this.

We're not able to provide an exact timeline for a fix, but we'd recommend always keeping your Spotify app up to date to ensure you're on the latest version.

In the meantime, we'd like to ask you to continue to leave the following info in the thread so that we can pass them on to the right teams:

  • Bluetooth device make, model, and what it's called in the Connect picker
  • A description of the issue you're experiencing

Thanks again!
