Podcast episodes start over from the beginning on Android

We’ve received reports that podcast episodes lose their listening progress and are starting over from the beginning. This is happening only on Android, when the following criteria are met:

  • the episode is started from a playlist - be it a personal one or Your Episodes;
  • the small white "Play" button on the right is used. When tapping on the episode title and using the big green "Play" button instead, the app remembers the progress and episodes continue as normal.

Hey folks,

 

We're happy to announce that this should now be fixed for everyone - just make sure you're running the latest version of Spotify available!

 

If you're still having trouble, it's worth logging out and signing back in to your account to force a resync or performing a clean reinstall of the app to get rid of any potentially corrupted cache.

I can confirm that the error no longer occurs in version 9.1.2.833 and has therefore been fixed 👍🏻

I just updated to 9.0.98.1187 and it's still happening

This is still happening for me, I just updated the app to 9.0.98.1187. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy A53 5G and it's running Android 16. I tried clearing the cache, but it didn't work. Do I have to reinstall Spotify? I already had to reinstall Spotify a couple weeks ago to resolve an issue that made the app crash whenever I opened it, so it would be very annoying if I'd have to reinstall it again and download all my music over again.

I just updated to the latest 9.0.98.1187 and the same issue still recurs. Podcasts reset when resuming them.
