Spotify for Samsung Gear Fit2

Hello, I have a Samsung Gear Fit2 fitness watch that is paired with my Galaxy S6. I have the latest version of Spotify installed on my phone and have installed Spotify to my Gear Fit2 through the Gear app. When I open the Spotify app on my Fit2, Spotify opens in my phone but an error message appears on the Fit2 "Unable to start Spotify BT disconnected"...leaving me unable to control or begin play on my phone. I've read so many boards discussing this issue but have yet to find any actual solution.

I have received the same error when connected to my Galaxy S7 active. Is there any solution to this problem?
