Cannot create playlist folder in desktop app or web player

Cannot create playlist folder in desktop app or web player

I have read the Spotify support which says I need to use the desktop app, right click on a playlist and then select create folder. However, when I try to do this, create folder is not an option in the drop-down

Hi there,

Thanks for the post.

Can you send us a screenshot of how things look when you right-click in the playlist section? Also let us know what OS you're running and what is your current Spotify app version. We'll do our best to get to the bottom of this.

Cheers.

Hello, I have the same problem but with a different bug. Here are the steps to replicate the problem on web player on Chrome.

1. Select a playlist by Spotify (in this case I selected "idk."

2. Try to add a song to a playlist you want to create by clicking the three dots at the right-hand side of the song. In the options, you'll see that "Create Playlist" appears.

3. Click on that, you should be seeing a prompt to create a playlist and name it. Instead, the Web Player just adds the song to playlist it automatically creates by the name of the song you want to add.

4. Instead of clicking the Create Playlist, if you use the search for a playlist that does not exist in your library, it again shows Create Playlist.

5. Click on it. Instead of creating a playlist with the keywords you typed, Web Player again creates a playlist automatically by the name of the song.

I am using Chrome, Version 108.0.5359.124 (Official Build) (arm64) on MacOS Ventura.

Hey @ukergin,

Thank you for your reply in this thread.

The behavior you're describing is expected when you're trying to create a playlist with the steps you've mentioned.

On another note, Spotify constantly strives to improve the user experience with its features and the easiest way to achieve this is by regular app updates. That's why we appreciate you taking the time to repot this. As we've concluded that this is not a bug and if you'd like this to be changed/improved, feel free to create an idea on the relevant idea board. We always take new ideas and feedback into consideration to improve the app.

You'll also find all the relevant info about our Idea Exchange and how the Community feedback gets implemented here if you'd like to know more about the topic.

Take care!

Hello, so you're basically saying that if we use the web player, listen to a song in a playlist prepopulated by Spotify, and want to add a song to a new playlist we name, this is not possible. The only option to add a song to a playlist that does not exist in our original library is to add the song to playlist by the name of the song.

Why on earth would adding a song to a new playlist we name is possible on app, but not on the web player? What kind of decision making or criteria did the developers use to make this this silliness and nonsense?
