I've attached an example of some Direct marketing sent my way.
How can I stop it?

I'm cancelling Spotify - not only because of this but the constant nag about music they think I want to listen to. I **bleep**ing know what I want to listen to. Also, they **bleep**ed up the shuffle button by adding "smart shuffle". There's nothing smart about it, except it takes a whole freekin second to toggle shuffle/noshuffle on, because of this feature. Why would Spotify assume they know what I would like to listen to? I'm no tiktok sheep.
Well, bye Spotify! We had a one-sided relationship. Glad I'm out.
Plexamp next! 🤘
Now I’m getting advertising for artists. This is unacceptable Spotify. We pay for an ad free Service
Well the whole issue is that Spotify doesn't even push these to me until it is far too late for me to even consider going to the show. Every single time I see one, the show is in about two weeks and tickets are all sold out. So not only is the pop up annoying, but it's not even effective. It's constantly taunting me about shows I couldn't go see even if I wanted to. I have literally never seen a concert pop up that isn't for a show in 1-2 weeks that is already completely sold out. I don't even follow half the artists I get them for, so that's not the issue.
Also to add: even when the concert is sold out and I've closed it once, it will come up. My friend told me she was notified about a Fall Out Boy concert for EIGHT MONTHS and she couldn't get it to stop coming up. Never happened to me or my partner; we always only see concert "notifications" (ads) for concerts only 1-2 weeks away
@Vasil this isn’t cool. I pay for premium and do not want to have to close popup direct marketing. Poor user experience for whatever payola Spotify is getting to marketing to me in an “ad-free” space. Lame
stop recommending me a concert that’s 5 hours away! it’s not near me at all. i changed my concert location in the app to the middle of nowhere, yet under the songs it still suggests places nearby. this is tiring, at least move the suggestions BELOW the lyrics. nothing uglier than under my track seeing “LIVE EVENT NEAR…”
I also get near daily concert recs despite having the toggle turned off. I’ve recently done a hard reset of the app after I was told to do so in a separate post due to getting sponsored pop up ads (which unfortunately did not fix that issue either). I share everyone’s frustration with getting served ads when I have them turned off.
I'm also getting really frustrated with these concert ads that I can't turn off. I get them for artists I do not follow or intentionally listen to at all, and for a city that's a 3 hour drive away. I'm paying for a premium family plan.
In addition to still getting near daily concert ads on the phone app, Spotify is now also serving me concert ads on my TV when listening on PS5. I have the option turned off still. This is seriously annoying and has been going on months now with no word, please give us an update!!
That doesn’t remove the annoying banners, or the live activities in under the songs. Why are there ads constantly showing up on a paid service.
That solution does not work, I’ve had all of those options turned off, after a long talk with support they recommended I reinstall the app (along with 10GB of music) and, surprise! I still get the ads.
Hey @Jimbo481,
Thanks for posting in the thread!
Just to confirm, how does the pop up notifications appear for you? Keep in mind that there are different types of notifications within the app. If you see the option What is this? in the pop up, you should be able to opt-out from future notifications about similar suggestions. You may also see notifications about newly released app features or subscription offers related to you - these can't be turned off, as they're part of how the app functions.
We hope this clears things up! Should you have further questions, feel free to send us a screenshot of the notifications you're seeing.
Take care!
I have all push notifications turned off and yet I’m receiving in-app concert notifications. This incessant poking of users that have opted out of these notifications to stop.
It just got even more ridiculous. I had concert notifications off from day 1, then Spotify ignored my preferences and gave me concert notifications on a near daily basis anyway. Now Spotify gives me a popup notification telling me to turn on the concert notification feature that evidently is always on whether you turn it on or off.
Please Spotify. This is really really bad user experience and it must stop now.
I have all push notifications turned off and yet I’m receiving in-app concert notifications too. Stop this Spotify ! You’re not respecting us !
I have ALL notifications off, still every day a concert push comes at the top of the screen.
With Airplay working better than connect literally only the existing playlists are holding me with spotify, after that ridiculous podcast push and now this, plus price increases to finance the podcasts I don‘t want on the horizon, I can see the last straw…
Agreed. I already have the settings toggled off and the in app pop-ups are still happening!
I honestly could even understand if Spotify buried the option to disable these notifications deep in some settings menu. But for the option to not exist period is insane. People everywhere have notification fatigue and phone manufacturers and many major apps are quickly adapting by giving people more options. It's hard to believe Spotify has chosen to swim against the tide on this. I'm sick of getting concert notifications for bands I don't listen to that are over a six hours drive away from me.
Hey there you, Yeah, you! 😁 Welcome - we're glad you joined the Spotify Community! While you here, let's have a fun game and get…
