How can I stop getting in-app recommendations?

I've attached an example of some Direct marketing sent my way.

How can I stop it?

Hey folks!

Just a follow-up here 🙂

Regarding the in-app messages with a 'Sponsored Recommendation' tag:

You’ll see them for artists you follow or listen to a lot and they will only appear when you first navigate to Home. They won’t interrupt your music listening experience.

Opting out of them is possible for Premium subscribers. To do so -  tap on
What's this? the next time you receive a notification. From there you can stop them from showing for the artist you've received the notification from, or stop them showing altogether.

Regarding the in-app concert recommendations:

It is not possible to turn off in-app concert recommendations (or any other in-app messages in general), unlike email and push notifications which are sent outside of the app and can be turned off. We're making improvements on this matter.

Hope this clears things up!

Doesn't work, see below

Yeah this. So far there isn’t an ad free Spotify. Like others suggested, and what I did, jump ship. **bleep** Spotify!

This is so infuriating it’s now showing “live event nearby” before the lyrics. I can see it at the bottom of all the songs. I can’t afford to gooo **bleep** stop rubbing it in my face

I contacted support and supposedly had them disable it on my account. It was gone for a few weeks (since my first post in this thread), but this morning it is back, harassing me about some concert I don't care about. Starting to plan the move from Spotify to Apple Music instead I guess. Booo, Spotify, booo.

I also have this issue. Disappointed to see it’s not taken seriously by Spotify yet.

That’s wild that they’re pretending these aren’t ads! Even if that was a valid legal position, which I doubt, then it’s actively working against your paying customers wishes.

I didn’t particularly want to but maybe voting with my feet is the right decision.

It's odd but I've been getting in-app recommendations for shows of bands I listen to, even though I have all categories of recommendations turned off (see screenshots). It seems like the recommendations yea/nay settings aren't being honored?

How many times do I have to turn down a concert notification? I've had spotify for a decade. Today is the day I switch to apple music.

Just chiming in to say that I also think this is**bleep**. I have all my notifications turned off but I see the same banner ad for a concert every single time i open the app. it's infuriating.

Well, as was predicted, I am back to share two more ads that I received (while driving again, f yeah!!!).

You were right about why their response was confusing...it was because they were actually telling me "no, we will not turn them off" within a sentence that sort of resembled a "yes". Absolute fvcking @ssh0lery from Spotify.

My Question or Issue

I have all notifications for concerts, recommended artists and shows turned off. However about once per week (sometimes more frequently) I get a popup notification in the app advertising concerts appearing in the app. See screenshot

If this is a bug, please fix it.

If however this is a deliberate feature as Spotify is generating revenue from record companies to advertise concerts via popups in the app, then this is advertising and is going against the ad-free promise of the premium service.

Hey Spotify! How could you not respond to these complaints?

I got the same here; very annoyed but theses concert ads i don't need!

They are also very big! Take 1/4 of the screen.

Please give us the option to remove them!

This happens to me too! I’m near on constantly bombarded about You Me At 6 concerts and I don’t even follow them!! It is the most annoying thing. I have all things turned off and it still happens. I don’t pay premium to receive annoying unnecessary adverts. Really given how many complaints there are I think Spotify should fix there s**t. This seems to be a new feature, I’ve had premium for years and years and only recently does this rubbish keep happening and I’ve never even used Spotify to find concert tickets.

Also getting**bleep** Ads every Day!!!

I have the same problem. I would like to not see these messages. I do listen to music, but don't go to concerts. If these keep me irritated, I'm concidering switching to an other platform...

Hi there @C1L0,

Thanks for the replies. We're looking into this further on our end and have forwarded all the info from this thread to the appropriate team. When we have any updates on the matter, we'll share them with you here.

In the meantime, try checking your account settings to opt out of these types of recommendations and see if that helps the case. To opt out of receiving sponsored recommendations, go to your Spotify account on desktop > Account > Privacy settings > turn off Tailored ads.

Hope this clears things up.

@Vasil, why are you not responding?

yeah, where are you at, @Vasil ?

tried Spotify again for three months to see if it’s any better now and although they are slightly less pushy on the podcast side this (and the broken shuffle) is the reason will not renew
