Jump to current song when you open playlists

Jump to current song when you open playlists

When you open or go back to the current playlist, it would great if the app automatically 'jumped to' the current song playing or queued, instead of having to scroll through 1,100+ songs, looking for 1 highlighted song to see where you're up to / a few songs previous / songs coming up.

Surely that feature wouldn't be too complicated to add in.

Please consider it.

Thanks,

Jason

In windows, you must click on the album cover.

Windows 11, Spotify updated from MS app store; clicking on playlist cover/title/anything NOT SCROLLING TO CURENTLY PLAYING POSITION. Please let me know if you can click in other way, e.g. better than UX designer with 15 years of exp 😉

For me it works in windows 11. Dunno how I installed the app. But when I click a second time on the cover, then the playlist will be opened at the top, without scrolling to the song position.

But in iOS it doesn’t work!

My Question or Issue

Can you guys please finally fix the bug that has existed in your mac os x and other players for months and years now, which causes the player to NOT show the currently playing track when you click on the album, or song title, or whatever in the lower left of the window? It just brings up the playlist from which the track is playing but doesn't indicate the currently playing track. So annoying and I don't understand why you don't prioritize fixing this and other simple but glaring issues in the various UXs? Please improve your QA!

Just posting to express my frustration with this feature not working... Spotify user since 2009 here... I miss being able to click on the song title and being able where is this song playing from, either my own playlist/saved playlist or radio playlist. Please Spotify look into this! 🙏

Yes, that's working. Thanks. So they just moved the function. It's still there.

Used to be able to click on the little album cover and the page would jump to show the track playing in green. Is that another feature Spotify has decided to eliminate? It was quite convenient. Now, we have to scroll up or down to where the track playing is in the playlist. It seems Spotify is determined to take away features that make it easier to use. Features that use to take one click, now take three.

In the desktop app, the functionality is still available, but it's located somewhere else. When you click on the album artwork in the bottom-left corner of the app, it will open the Now Playing View in the right panel. If you click the playlist title above the enhanced artwork in that panel, it will lead you to the position of the currently playing song within the playlist.

You are a god. It works, solved.

And still no response from spotify.

it doesn’t work in iOS!

Please avoid writing things liked „solved“. Otherwise we will never get support.

You have probably noticed that Spotify doesn’t care about bugs and essential features.

Thank you!  It worked for me on a MacBook Pro.

But now it's a 3-step process, where it used to be 1.  Spotify you should really fix this and go back to the original.

And also Spotify you should answer these questions for your customers.

Spotify used to have a feature where if you clicked on the expanded album artwork in the bottom left of the desktop player, Spotify would show the currently playing playlist in the middle and then scroll down to the position of the currently played song. This was a very useful feature.

This is such an obvious oversight from the team handling the iOS interface. What makes it even worse is how long this issue has been ignored..and their customers have been making their voices heard on their official message board for months, actually I think years... 😑

I'm wondering if there are different teams of developers for the various platforms (Windows, iOS, Android, etc.). Since the feature is available on Windows and macOS, it doesn't really make sense why it wouldn't be included on iOS unless that team either missed it, planned to add it in the future but it fell through the cracks, or it was put on the back burner. That would explain why the automated genres filter in the Liked Songs playlist was available for months on iOS before coming to MacOS just recently.
